PEOPLES’ POVERTY REDUCTION PROGRAMME-FUNDED BY GOVERNMENT OF SINDH
Overview
This month report depicts the monthly progress
of PPRP Districts project activities carried out
with fundamental ingredient of social
mobilization: CO/VO/LSO formation, their
routine and follow up meetings with the practice
of saving, community initiative through
community institution platform with further
Programme interventions to targeted
households’.
There were also community institutions leaders’
conference held in different districts during this
month for interacting and brining three pillars:
political, administrative and social pillars
collaboratively at one platform of MAC
managerial activist conference that community
institution leaders can share their progress,
learning experiences and issue to be resolved at
this platform.
During this month, SRSO under the PPRP, for
managerial skills trainings of community leaders
of community institutions, there are many
trainings have been conducted at community
level. There are scheduled different type of
trainings for three VO leaders initially because
the CIF, IGG, VTP, LCH and ED interventions
starts at VO level.
Therefore, the skills training starts from
Community organizations (Cos) office bearers
which is, CMST (Community Management Skills
Training), in which three days managerial
training for CO leaders at village level. In
addition, they trained on necessity of VO
management and Planning Training, CIF
Appraisals’, monitoring training, and many other
managerial pieces of training for community
organizations’ (CO/VO/LSO) office bearers held
to train and uplift these Cis.
In this month, the VO leaders Training Vo
management and planning training (VMST)
arranged at District Offices along with three days
training on CIF appraisals and monitoring
training. In Khairpur CRPs were identified,
interviewed and their three days CRP Capacity
building training was also conducted with the
assistance of IMSD.
In all districts, the low-cost housing scheme has
started and engineers are busy in construction of
houses. The Cheques to beneficiaries given into
installment after technical assessment and
viewing their willingness to construct house at
concern place/plot where they are ready to
construct the house. Monthly Progress Review Planning Meeting
As SRSO is always arranging a monthly progress
review and next month planning meeting of all
districts chaired by team Leader PPRP and Senior
Management. In Pertinent to this, during the first
week of January month, the six Districts
consolidated Planning & Progress Review
meeting held at SRSO Complex Sukkur.

Self-Survival is the key to sustain life

Ms. Roshani belongs to very poor family, she has
two children 01 daughters and 01 son, her
husband was running a Small cabin of
confectionery items just for earning to stabilize
their life.
She was spending her life with full difficulties just
because of her less income.
She said that one day SRSO Program team came
and introduce the household level peoples’
poverty reduction program of Sindh
government.
So, under this program she became member of
CO Dua Magsi and developed her Micro
Investment plan and she benefited with CIF loan
amount Rs.15000 to promote their income
generation through small scale business.
From CIF, she purchased calf Rs. 150,00 and Rs.
2000 from their own saving total Rs. 17000 for
rearing purpose and she has started saving from
the earning of her husband also she did labor
work for it to return their CIF loan.
She said that before her family life was so
difficult to survive and we are left nothing to eat
two times meals in a day.
In perusal to poverty, we have lost all our assets
even irreparable loss of son to not bear the
expenses of medicines and went for medical
Centre for proper medical checkup. Poverty is
curse but struggle and self-survival hope can
sustain your life because hope sustains the life.
She returned all CIF amount from their savings
and saved a calf amount. She purchased calf for
rearing purpose their market value now is
Rs.40000 to 50000 which is purely their own
asset.
Further she shared that nowadays our life is
going smooth and my earning become good just
because of SRSO Sindh government and I am
really thankful to SRSO Sindh government for
their initiatives for poor people of District Thatta.

As Ms. Wilayat belongs to very poor family, she
has seven children and her husband was doing
labor work at field on daily wages. She was
spending her life with full difficulties just because
of her less income.
SRSO brought people's poverty reduce program
of Sindh government under this program she was
benefited with IGG grant amount 15000
intervention for the purpose of to promote their
income generation through small scale business.
She purchased one sheep Rs. 16500 as she
received amount Rs. 15000 of IGG in which she
put Rs. 1500 from their own saving and rearing it
at their village. Through this rearing process her
sheep started to give birth of baby sheep. Now
the total cost of their livestock asset is Rs. 20000
as per market value.
Now she is happy that she has its own sheep and
she will get more from it through rearing.
Further she shared that nowadays our life is
going smooth and my earning become good just
because of SRSO Sind government and I am really
thankful to SRSO Sindh government for their
initiatives for poor people of District Thatta.

Sindh on dated 27th February 2020 at village
Makhan Samo, Union council Makhan Samo
tehsil Shujaabad District Mirpurkhas. Dr. Kaisar
Bengali is formal advisor of Chief Minister of
Sindh who remained the chief Guest of
Managerial Activist Conferenc e (MAC) along
with company of EU delegation i.e. Ms.Hina
Shahid and Ms. Durre Mehmood. They visited
Sindh Rural Support Organization (SRSO) Office
Mirpurkhas under project of Peoples' Poverty
Reduction Program (PPRP) and its ongoing
activities.
Delegation briefed about Program Activities at District Office Mirpurkhas:

Evaluation officer warmly welcomed to the
Delegation at SRSO office.
SRSO official presented brief introduction to the delegation about SRSO and PPRP interventions i.e. Community investment Fund (CIF), Income Generating Grant (IGG), Low-cost housing scheme (LCHS), Vocation Training Program (VTP) and Business Development Group (BDG) that are highlighted occurring activities of 06 Districts under PPRP through three tiers of social mobilization i.e. CO, VO, LSO and BDG formation. The major purpose of these intervention is to harness peoples’ potential to elevate beneficiaries from poverty below line Dr: Kaisar Bengali appreciated the adorable efforts of GoS PPRP and SRSO with successful implementation in light of designed activity to achieve program goals and asked some question about progress of LCHs and mechanism of BDG interventions. His appreciation responded the satisfaction and inspiring contribution of community to lead program towards to the success that is incredible achievement towards project goals. SRSO rejuvenated the theme of harassing peoples’ potential that reflected from intervention at gross root level of District Mirpurkhas that is the great achievement for PPRP team.

MAC Event Participation by delegation:
Delegation paid their precious time to encourage community for organizing Managerial Activist Conference that consisting of 35 women sub-village community organizations (COs) and 07 village organizations (VOs) which are apex body of community organizations at village and revenue village level. Community presented their achievement through Stalls at village Makhan Samon stand where 05 SMTs of District Mirpurkhas participated 09 stalls were successfully displayed by vocational training program (VTP) beneficiaries. They established different type of stalls by community organization i.e. as under
1. Mobile repairing stall by SMT Jhudo 2. Motor bike stall by SMT Digri 3. Solar installation stall by SMT Jhudo 4. Pickle making and packing stall by SMT
sindhri. 5. Beauty Parlor stall by SMT sindhri 6. Hand embroidery stall by SMT sindhri 7. Candles making stall by SMT Mirpurkhas 8. Shoes sole and upper making stall by SMT
Mirpurkhas 9. Bangles making stall by SMT Mirpurkhas and 10. Applique work stall by SMT Dighri
Dr. Kaisar Bengali interacted with beneficiaries under head of Mobile repairing, Motor bike, Solar installation, Pickle making, beauty parlor, hand embroidery, candles making, Shoes sole, upper making, Bangles making and Applique work that were available at Managerial Active conference to encourage other community members towards skills learning and sharing their experience how did they elevate from below poverty line towards establishing their small business for income generations.
The esteemed Guests visited the stalls of different BDGs-Business Development Groups, Vocational Training certified entrepreneurs (women and youth). The delegation briefed about every stall by their community
representatives and focal persons in explicit
manner with practical exposure available at stall.
Guests were inspired and encouraged rural women for self-initiatives in manner of collective thinking and encouraged women entrepreneurship at community level. Moreover, Delegation conducted meeting with members of the community institutions that were fostered under program of PPRP and interacted in detail

with BDG and staff of Mirwah Gorchani. Guests asked some question about daily income and expenses of BDG Khushali group.
Ms. Noor Bhari from LSO Shah Latif exclaimed,”
Before presence of Sindh Rural Support Organization (SRSO) and Peoples’ Poverty Reduction Program (PPRP); we were remained unknown that women could contribute to bring changes like effective utilization of team work unity to purchase Rakhsha from BDG provision and loader from saving. It is Sindh Government program and Sindh Rural Support Organization (SRSO) who brought us at next level of success towards betterment. They taught us the value and importance of saving and its rest sure to carry it on accordingly. Ms. Naseeba explicitly briefed about the income of BDG from Rakasha and saving status. She exclaimed,” we are 07 members in BDG to get profit on equal basis that make us able to support our families. The people from our village admired the efforts of SRSO and Sindh Government who support us with innovative ideas to reduce poverty and elevate from poverty below line. We do not have words
to offer thanks to Sindh Government and SRSO who changed our lives in new directions. They have established our confidence and part of BDG.
Delegation Visit of BDG Nursery at Mirwah Gorchani
Delegation visited BDG Nursery display Center at Mirwah Gorchani and conducted meeting with

them. They shared their strategy plan briefly and
mechanism to drive their business and procedure along with description of income generation. Dr, Kaisar Bengali also much impressed to see the interest of the community for daily income and their benefit of the Nursery.
Delegation visit at village Rashid Farm
The delegation paid next visit at village Rashid Farm union council Kack-LSO Khushal to visit BDG group male stitching machines (BDG Group of Enterprise Development). The honorable guest and EU delegation visited Male BDG stitching center and interacted with beneficiaries about their past and present lives comparison and source of income. BDG record found well maintained appropriately that consisting all crucial record. Dr Kaisar Bengali exclaimed the tremendous efforts of SRSO contribution under PPRP for strengthening the community organizations for income at village level. Dr: Kaisar Bengali also emphasized the training of the female group of such trade and further engaging the community females for generating the economic conditions of the community.
Low Cost Housing Scheme (LCHs) Visit:
In village Rashid Farm, Dr; Kaisar Bengali visited Low-Cost housing schemes and met with five LCH beneficiaries and proceeded the discussion on their present life along with mechanism to receive LCHS procedure of receiving cheques in installment under PPRP. Beneficiaries shared their existed scenario before LCHS provision and hard time with a comparison of current relief
scenario and shared the receiving installment by beneficiaries.

Umerkot. She has 09 family members in
her Household along with her husband,
06 children and her father-in-law. By
professions her husband is an
entrepreneur of a tyre puncture shop in
which have daily sale is 700 PKR after the
deducted expenses saving is remained
300 to 350 PKR in a moth 9000 to 12000.
When Sindh Rural Support Organization’s
team came to our village to do program
introduction regarding Government of
Sindh’s funded Peoples’ Poverty
Reduction Program after that our female
members formed the community
organization named CO Taqat in which I
was elected the President and my HHs
already surveyed by SRSO team through
the poverty score card survey my HH falls
in PSC 10.
I understood very clear about the PPRP
during the program introduction,
community management skills training
and in routine meeting of our CO that this
program would be supported us of
interest free loan, low cost house and
vocation offers.
After that I made my micro invest plan for
community investment fund for
extending the missing material required
for tyre puncture shop. My plan shared to
our CO and VO for further approval, SRSO
approved me 14000 CIF and we have
invested this amount in shop and made
another little setup of tyre puncture on
other stop which is running by my son
Bano.
Now my son and my husband both are
earning 700 to 800 PKR near to 25000 in a
month.

Doondi w/o Laloo belongs to very poor family
which lives in Village Faqeer Abdullah, UC Faqeer
Abdullah Taluka Umerkot, having 07 family
members in her HH. In which she, her husband,
05 children in her family.
Doondi said we are working as bricks making on
Batha. Bricks making is a very heavy labor and
have not sufficient income.
Doondi and her husband said we are paid wages
500 PKR on making the 1000 bricks but could not
made 1000 bricks regularly.
In rainy season Batha would be remained paused
so this period we have not any wage.
Doondi said due to very hard labor we always
facing the health-related problems.
After that I made my micro invest plan for
community investment fund for 14000 PKR. My
plan shared to our CO and VO for further
approval, SRSO approved me 14000 CIF.
In this amount I purchased Ralleys, Bed sheets,
and doors and windows cover of 10000, and
purchased 01 male goat in 6000 with addition
2000 from my saving.
I am sailing these materials in surrounding
villages in reasonable price, I am earning now on
daily base 200 to 300 rupees in a day and male
goat sailed in 10000 PKR, and invested in this
work.
Doondri said I returned 14000 CIF and my work
is continue and now I want to get CIF again and I
will do setup in home, me and my husband both
will sail relleys and Sheets in surrounding
villages.
