Resource Loading
Mainly involves your manpower or employees. In resource loading, each
employee is assigned a task or a percentage of a project (x% of the whole). Usually, it's 25 percent of the whole. Then the employee is assigned other tasks until
he or she reaches 100 percent booked. This would then mean that the employees
cannot take on any additional work.
3
Resource Loading
With resource loading, a project manager can predict an employee's hours for the
year and see how tasks can be assigned. This also allows the project manager to
decide whether or not additional employees or contractors are needed to
complete the scheduled projects.

2. Produce a table that shows the duration, early start, late finish, slack, and resource(s) required for each activity.
RESOURCE LEVELING
While resource loading mainly deals with manpower, resource leveling deals with both time (starting and ending date) and resources, including manpower and budget. Resource leveling tries to balance the conflicting interests of projects with the available resources.
9
RESOURCE LEVELING
Resource leveling generally breaks things down into two categories: time and available resources. Some projects need to be finished within a certain timeframe. These projects will use all the available resources (money and manpower) to complete the project by a certain date.

GROUP DISCUSSION
Class divided into 4 groups: 2 groups of men, 2 groups of women (2 minutes)
Discuss in groups, answer the question: suitable or not? (15 minutes)
Group Presentation (5 minutes each; 4*5 = 20 minutes)

Nissan’s LEAF
Resource Management
In the first quarter of 2010, this car manufacturer has announced the coming of ‘Nissan Leaf’ in the United States and was priced remarkably low around 25,000 USD (RM 83,000). This showed that it is the most affordable emission free vehicle available in the market. However, the price may change due to Government Tax if ever Nissan Leaf will arrive in Malaysia.
Nissan Leaf could seat 5 adults, has a range of 100 miles on full charge battery and considered as a medium sized hatchback. When using a DC fast charger and equipped with a quick charge port, Nissan Leaf can be charge with in 30 minutes filling 80 percent of the full capacity of its Lithium-Ion Batteries. On the other hand, using an ordinary household 220 VAC power outlet would take 8 hours for a full charge.
Resource Management
Limitations of resources both human and natural resources often affects the project management. Depletion of petroleum reserves that can not be renewed to make the price of oil as car fuel becomes unstable and unpredictable. Nissan as one of the world's automotive manufacturers responded by launching a new car variant called "Nissan Leaf". This car is powered by Lithium-Ion Batteries that can reach 160 km mileage. If the battery is empty, it can be recharged with special equipment in 30 minutes. If filled with 220VAC household electricity required 8 hours. The car was launched in 2010 sold in the USA at a price of USD 25,000.
Resource Management
Is suitable if the Nissan Leaf sale in Malaysia?
Explain!
Argue!
In this process the project team is appointed and a project brief (describing, in outline, what the project is attempting to achieve and the business justification for doing so) is prepared. In addition the overall approach to be taken is decided and the next stage of the project is planned. Once this work is done, the project board is asked to authorize the next stage, that of initiating the project.Key activities include: appointing an executive and a project manager; designing and appointing a project management team; preparing a project brief; defining the project approach; and planning the next stage (initiation).
