I thought that all three presentations were excel- lent and were a great showcase for our school. In a year chock full of highlights; a few deserve to be mentioned again. • 100% of our Kindergarten students have a reading level higher than level 3 and 96% of all students have achieved the expected Reading Benchmark of level 9 or more. This is the highest level any cohort of stu- dents at our school has achieved in the past 4 years. • Our Year 6 students have achieved very impressive results compared to the State average in the “VALID” Science Test. VALID stands for Valida- tion of Assessment for Learning and Individual Development. This assess- ment assists schools to monitor student achievement and inform plan- ning, programming and assessment practice. Our 2018 Year 6 students have achieved an average score of 88.61 whilst the NSW average was only 84.83. • In NAPLAN we have achieved average scores above our 5 year aver- ages for Reading & Numeracy; which I must tell you are significantly high- er than both the State averages and the above the averages for similar schools our size. Additionally, we have addressed a long-term trend of Year 5 students underperforming in the top two bands for Writing. • Our Girls Touch Football team made it to round six in the NSWPSSA KO – the highest any PCPS team has made in many years. • Two students represented the Sydney North Region in PSSA Athletics. • Over 80% of parents rated having parent teacher interviews as a very positive experience. • As per the trend of the past three years, our anticipated numbers will increase another 5.4% to 544 students in 2019. • Our inclusion in the NSW Government’s Cooler Classrooms air condi- tioning program. • We also have started the greatest school band program ever and look forward to expanding that program in 2019. CONGRATULATIONS RYDER Each year a significant number of our students enter the Lucy Wicks Christmas card competition. It seems that we have at least one winner each year and this year our winning entrant is Ryder from Stage 1 Purple. Congratulations Ryder!

SUCCESSFUL STUDENTS Last week we acknowledged all of our award winners at the various pre-sentation ceremonies. I thought that all three presentations were excel-lent and were a great showcase for our school.

In a year chock full of highlights; a few deserve to be mentioned again.• 100% of our Kindergarten students have a reading level higher than level 3 and 96% of all students have achieved the expected Reading Benchmark of level 9 or more. This is the highest level any cohort of stu-dents at our school has achieved in the past 4 years.• Our Year 6 students have achieved very impressive results compared to the State average in the “VALID” Science Test. LIBRARY NEWSPremier’s Reading Challenge Reminder - The 2019 PRC challenge will open on March 4, 2019, however students can record books they are reading now to include on their 2019 reading records. Kindergarten and Stage 1 have been enjoying PRC books with their classroom teachers, however they are still able to enter their own books, whilst students in Stage 2 and 3 have been completing the challenge inde-pendently. Holidays are a great time to catch up and complete the challenge. For more information on the Pre-mier’s reading challenge, please go to https://online.det.nsw.edu.au/prc/home.html. Overdue Books and Holiday Borrowing - Thank you to all the students who have shown such enthusiasm for borrowing this year. Please ensure all books have been returned to the library, we still have a few outstanding items that must be returned before the holidays. Overdue notices are emailed home, however this week I will be sending notes home in students bags, please ask students if they have one. Library books will still be collected from students classroom, however on occasion classes are missed, so returns can still be made anytime during the day, before and after school or to the front office. Please DO NOT leave library books outside the library if the library is closed, simply return them to the office. Your assistance is greatly appreciated. Please contact me, if you have any concerns regarding a misplaced or lost book. In some instances, a small replacement fee may be required to assist with the purchase of a new copy of the book. Thank you for your assistance and understanding.
