VILLAModern Villa Design

Introduction

This villa is located in the middle part of Yuci District, Shanxi Province. With terrain inclining from east to west, the main composition of local

earth is cinnamon soil. The villa is built according to the terrain, creating a feeling of beauty from ups and downs. Since the building is designed

for retired old people, it focus on the combination between nature and building itself. Therefore, I chose wooden structure as the basis of building,

then specially designed an open space on the ground floor of villa to make it a counterpart of second-floor terrace.

Introduction

This building is a medium-size kindergarten specially designed for children in Gaoqi District, it’s located at coast area near Amoy

Bridge. Since it’s close to the coastline, the south side of kindergarten that facing sea is designed with curves to imitate the

wave. The north side of building is next to several business centers. The trees near kindergarten are trimmed into the form of

clouds, in order to make them blending in better with blue sky and vast sea. Multiple pieces of colorful glass are applied on the

facade, making it an irregular jigsaw, so as to express the fun of childhood.

Introduction

The business center is located at the core business circle of XX City. Using streets as connection between areas, this business center is

a combination of open pedestrian street, high-end office building, medium and high-end department store, theme market, leisure and

entertainment area. My design idea is inspired by the milky way, the most bright light belt in the night sky. The spaceship shape buildings

and UFOs located near the entrance is just like their real counterparts, leading us into dreamy shopping area.

The original nature resources are maintained as much as possible in the design.

On the basis of original local culture and natural water body, “green” is taken as

the main factor of the design as well as plant landscape, so as to make tourists

and residents have access to nature while completely relax themselves.

Life And PeopleThe basic feature of the clay building is the “living together” of the whole clan, which is similar to the traditional living way of the Hans in the central plains of China. The clay building was well equipped while beaming a clan atmosphere like a small society. The head of the clan was chosen from the elders who should be of noble character and high prestige.

Self-support small society

Residents of the clay buildingThey are migrated from central China. They belong to Han nationality. The residents of eastern Fujian are primarily descendants with them China’s prevaling courtyard tradition, with its principles of central axis, symmery, and formal hierarchy of graduated rooms or halls. Hakka people migrated to the region later, settling in the western mountainous region, and bringing with them the traditions of defensive clan dwelling.

RESEARCH - FUJIAN CLAY BUILDING - 23

DefenceIn this region, lineages often had to protect themselves, which accounts for the fortrss-like appearance of these dwellings. Each dewelling housed serveral related families. All structural requirements for daily living , including storage of food and implements, could be collected under one roof for added protection. The war will be happened between different nationalities, court and dwellers, thievies.
