“After 10 years the boat looks and per-forms like new. I have had the so-ccalled“entry-llevel” boats and swore never again.Quality is truly priceless.”William E. MillerBeaver Falls, PA

“Why Stingray? Value. Idon’t believe there is anotherboat available that can givethe performance for themoney, regardless of cost. And, it had to look good.”Jim Kleinwort and buddiesSt. Ansgar, IN

“With the addition of our new daughter,my wife and I decided that we needed tomove into a bigger boat. Loving everythingthat Stingray had to offer with our 180RS, wedecided to stay with Stingray and bought a200CS. It’s her first time ever on a boat, butyou can see she lovesbeing in the Stingray.”Kenneth BaileyBrunswick, ME

“I was looking at used boats (all the usualsuspects!) and when I saw the used 1998Stingray 200CS, the general look and layoutjust grabbed me. I was looking for a trailera-ble boat with a cuddy cabin for sleeping outon the lake and the Stingray was by far thebest performing boat with everything I want-ed and more!”Bill GuiseLawrenceville, GA

“Storage is a breeze with this compact boat. You can even tow it with a minivan.”Raju VenugopalApex, NC

“When we first saw our Stingray we lovedits sleek design, then we were impressed bythe quality. When we discovered how afford-able it was, we became the proud owners of anew Stingray.”Audrey & Robert BurleyAberdeen, NC

“I first read about Stingray in a boatingmagazine. There were many boats of compa-rable size/engines having performancereviews. The Stingray had the fastest top endand handling second to none. I was veryimpressed with the stats. There was also apicture of a 190FX, looked like a WOT shot, very little boat in the water, just lookedamazing. I did a lot of research and alwayskept coming back to Stingray. Needless tosay I'm a very proud owner of what appearsto be somewhat of a rare boat in Canada.”Rick BainAjax, Ontario, Canada

“When I was looking to replace my olderMaxum last year, someone suggested I lookat a used Stingray that was for sale in the boattrader. I talked to several other boat ownersand they all had heard the same thing aboutStingray having a fast hull design. I went tolook at the boat (1996 586zp), and wasimpressed with the looks, as well as theimmaculate condition it was in, and bought itthe next day. Because this boat has beengreat, I will probably upgrade to a 220lx/sx inthe near future.”Michael PayneRichmond, VA

For the past twodecades, Stingrayhas pioneered many

of the advances of tech-nology in the boat build-ing industry. Equipmentand tools that were notavailable just a fewyears ago are now themainstays that enableStingray to achieveunparalleled precision andefficiency.

Computer Aided Designand ManufacturingEvery Stingray begins as a 3-dimensional computer model. We“build” the boat on-screen and carefully scrutinize each compo-nent for size and fit making all the necessary adjustments beforewe ever commit the design to fiberglass. We even use a virtualhuman to check for legroom and headroom and to be sure all ofthe controls are located comfortably within reach. The informa-tion from this 3-D model is then sent to the next step in theprocess: 3-D milling.

Multi-Axis 3-DMilling MachineWith information availablefrom the 3-D computer model, the milling machines can produce a full size model in a matter ofhours - a task that would take weeks to complete otherwise. Withunequalled precision, the running surface of the hull is cut to theexact specifications. Our master craftsmen then provide the mir-ror finish that is a hallmark of Stingray quality.

Robotic Lamination Facility Visitors to our plant are always impressed by its cleanliness andunique manufacturing systems. In our lamination building, a cus-tom designed overhead tram system was specially developed justfor Stingray. Parts under construction are moved about the plantunder computer control. Thissystem keeps track of our in-process fiberglass parts whileoptimizing mold usage andimproving productivity.Process automation alsoincreases worker safety, helps maximize efficiency, and improves quality.

Page 7: POWERBOA TS - Stingray Boats - Powerboat Manufacturer

Water JetCutting MachinesMany parts on a Stingrayare cut out using one ofour high-pressure waterjet machines. A stream ofwater no thicker than ahuman hair slices quicklyand neatly through a vari-ety of materials mucheasier than could be done by hand. Materials such as carpet, foam, vinyl, canvas, rubber, and fiberglass are quickly trans-formed into precision quality parts.

CNC RoutersComputerized numeric controlled routers are used to cut vari-ous sheet goods into high quality parts. The computer allows usto “nest” a group of parts efficiently to minimize waste.Because the processis computer con-trolled, each part isdimensionally iden-tical from one runto the next, and canbe finished muchfaster and inexpen-sively than thoseproduced by hand.

Being a leader in technology is morethan just a philosophy - it’s a commit-ment designed to help ensure thepreservation of our natural resourcesfor generations to come. Here are afew things we’re doing to help protectour ecosystem.

Use of Low VOC Gelcoatsand ResinsStingray is the first boat manufacturerto convert to the use of low styrene laminating resins and gel-coats. The combination of these low VOC materials coupledwith the latest in low pressure, high temperature spray equip-ment has reduced Stingray’s VOC stack emissions by over 55%.

Environmental Fuel Surge ProtectorsEvery Stingray boat is equipped with a fuel surge protector, asimple solution to venting without spillage. This helps avoidrefueling spills that lead to contaminated lakes and streams.

Fuel EfficiencyThe performance and efficiency of our patented Z-plane hull, documented by third party reports, is unmatched. Better fuelefficiency translates into less fuel consumption but more impor-tantly, less emissions into the environment.

Reduction and Recyclingof Material WasteStingray has a recycling program forvirtually every waste material includ-ing, but not limited to, cardboard, composites, aluminum, pallets, andmetal drums. Stingray recycles over200,000 pounds of material each year.

CommittedWe want Stingray owners not only to havefun on the water, but also to know thatthey are helping to protect theenvironment at the same time.

One look at this beauty and there’sno question – it’s a real sportboat. Yetwith its clever galley and headbelowdecks, it offers buyers that cov-eted second-hhome tax break, a definitepurchase-ddecision incentive.

The 220SX cabin comes standardwith a porta-ppotti, a sink, and a butanestove. The two facing lounge seats con-vert between sitting mode and v-bberthextensions in seconds. A circularBomar™ deck hatch lets in plenty of airand natural light and provides easy deckaccess.

When the sun comes up and it’s timeto take the wheel, the newly designeddash will look downright inviting.Color-mmatched gauges are set in a cus-tom molded panel. The driver and copi-lot travel in swiveling buckets with flip-up cushions, while the passengers enjoya spacious rear bench seat. You canstow your gear on either side of theengine, under the bench seat or in thegunwale trays. There’s a cooler in thecockpit sole and a space for the car keysand camera in the glove box.

Beauty, function, and performance -the 220SX has it all.

Did someone say “sportboat”? Surethere are other sportboats, but none canmatch the performance or style ofStingray’s 230SX.

The 230SX has a handsome, func-tional helm station with a soft-ttouchinstrument panel and a full set ofgauges. Twin sport bucket seats featureflip-uup sections for added clearance dur-ing stand-uup maneuvers. A swing-ooutstep eases access to the foredeck. Afiberglass cockpit liner is attractive andeasy to maintain.

Behind the lockable cabin doors is aningenious V-bberth arrangement, based

on our unique fiberglass insert. Its obvi-ous function is to provide seating orsleeping accommodations for two. Lessobvious are the additional overnightingamenities: underneath the cushionswe’ve added a sink, a porta-ppotti, and abutane stove. A circular Bomar™ hatchprovides light and ventilation.

The 230SX offers power options allthe way up to 425hp. Performance fanswho want the speed of a big-bblock andthe efficiency of a small-bblock will wantto check out this one.
