The City of Liverpool College: 21st Jul 2015 RYA - Powerboat Level 2 £275 - 2 Day Course Welcome to your Power boating course with Glaciere. The National Powerboating scheme is applicable to sports boats, ribs, dories and launches which do not normally provide accommodation or cooking facilities and fall under the length of 10 metres. Powerboating is a fun and exhilarating sport which is on the increase, and even though the UK doesn’t operate compulsory licensing, more and more areas are asking for proof of competence before they will allow you to launch. Put this together with some insurance companies will offer you discounts on your insurance policy if you are certificated then the level 2 certificate is a logical step if you plan to spend time on the water.  Aim: to teach b oat handlin g and sea manship in p owerboats. T he course may be cond ucted in a var iety of boat type s, both planing and displacement and the certificate issued will be endorsed to show the type(s) of boat in which the training took place. The minimum age for students is 12. The ratio of students to instructors should not exceed 3:1. The syllabus will include the following practical boat handling exercises:- Launch and Recovery - Boat Handling - Securing to a Buoy - Anchoring - Leaving and coming alongside - Man Overboard - Shore based theory is also included. This course will run on coastal waters so a coastal endorsement is available. Course Fees

 All courses have a fee attached to them. Some students may qualify for a fee reduction depending on their personal

circumstances or age. If you are on JSA or ESA, fee remission is very likely to be available for most courses but fee

remission is unlikely to be available for other means tested benefits due to recent changes in government policy. Please

note that some courses are charged at full cost whatever your personal circumstances. Student Services can provide

further advice. If you qualify for a reduction you will be asked to make a contribution to the college fund.
