“We are about to embark on a challenging,

rewarding and fun campaign that targets a

broad range of your consumers from around the

world.. You are invited to join me in a

challenge to race across the Atlantic Ocean 2013

Mini Transat Yacht Race. Together we can

achieve a dream and change lives forever.”

Richard Hewson

Richard Hewson is currently

preparing for the 2013 Mini Transat Race

This document focuses on how your support can benefit your company on a global level

The Mini Transat is considered to be

one of the most extreme single

handed events in the world due to

the race length and the boat’s size.

These high performance 6.5m single

handed yachts will race 4000nm

across the Atlantic, starting on the

13th of October 2013

The Mini Transat race hosts the best single handed sailors in the world including the majority of the skippers in this years Vendee Globe Yacht race.

“A demanding race and a true test for the best sailors

as the route covers difficult and adverse weather

conditions racing from Douarnenez in France, 1250nm

to Arrecife before commencing sailing 2770nm across

the Atlantic to Point a Pitre in Guadeloupe”

A campaign incorporating 7 different

countries, 12 ports and 6 million

people

Our Goal is to win the Mini Transat Race

After a successful Round the World Yacht Race campaign in 2011/12 skipper Richard Hewson has focused on single

handed sailing with the ultimate ambition of the Vendee Globe. Richards’s first objective is to win the 2013 Mini Transat Race across the Atlantic in his high performance RG650 Mini Transat 6.5m Yacht.

Following excellent results in the 2012 Mini Circuit, Richard has signed a contract with Katabatic Sailing and G Yacht Design to supply the new RG650 yacht for the campaign. Partner sponsorships are currently in negotiation with Zhik and Harken for clothing and sailing equipment.

Richard is tipped for a podium position in this years Mini Transat Yacht Race and has teamed up with Mission Blue to help promote environmental awareness of the ocean and its plight for overfishing and pollution. During preparation and on completion of the Mini Transat Richard will use his experiences to raise environmental awareness and talk about his motivation for life adventures at clubs, community centres, schools and businesses.

Richard is still seeking a major sponsor for his campaign and the Mini Transat to provide the financial support required to win the 4000nm race from Douarnenez France to Point a Pitre in the Caribbean.

The Audience Demographic

• Sailing has a broad demographic, as it is a sport that caters for a large range of abilities, whilst satisfying a variety of attributes.

• Ability to sell the romance of sailing, mixed with adventure, competitive focus and extreme attitude.

• Traditionally sailing focuses on the executive demographic and filters down throughout all levels of society.

• Challenge of tactics and seamanship attract older viewers while thrill, speed and excitement target youth.

• Many sponsors are turning to sailing to market their brand as media focuses on brand recognition rather than focus on sports personalities e.g. Wild Oats, Telefonica. Oracle, B&G, ICAP.

• Inspire leaders and managers from all ends of the spectrum to enjoy your product and share it with their colleagues, associates and friends.

“Grit, determination, and bravery are key elements of ocean

sailing, and are precisely the character attributes which makes

someone a leader, and thus influential to others”

The Environment

Richard Hewson is a strong campaigner for a sustainable environment and all of

his campaigns focus on being as environmentally friendly as possible. Richard plans to sail all his events with a carbon footprint as close to zero as possible and is an affiliate partner of Mission Blue to support them with public awareness and research whilst racing in all his campaigns.

Decades of overfishing, pollution, climate

change, acidification and other human

pressures threaten the fundamental nature of

the ocean. Mission Blue has been created to

elevate public awareness about critical

ocean issues and to inspire support for

organizations, projects and initiatives that

are making a positive difference for the

ocean.

Sponsors are an essential part of this high profile event and

Richards Mini Transat Campaign. Join the RG650 and the

winning team of the 2013 Mini Transat and be rewarded.
