ACCIDENT MEANS For the purpose of Railway working,

Accident is an occurrence in the course ofworking of railway which DOES or MAY

AFFECT its engines, the Safety of the railway, rolling stock, permanent way and works,

fixed installations, passengers or servant or which affect the safety of others or which does or may cause delay to train or

loss to railway.



SERIOUS ACCIDENT1. For pass. Carrying trains

2. Death or

3. Serious Injury or

4. Loss of Railway Property above

Rs. 2 crores or4. In the opinion of CCRS/CRS, if an

enquiry is required

IT IS A CIRCUMSTANCE UNDER

WHICH, BUT FOR THE VIGILANCESHOWN BY ANY PERSON OR

PERSONS, A COLLISION WOULDHAVE OCCURRED EITHER IN THEBLOCK SECTION OR WITHIN THE

STATION LIMITS BETWEEN TWOTRAINS OR BETWEEN A TRAINAND AN BSTRUCTION.



EXCEPT ON “TWO” OCCASSIONS 1. OUT SIDE STATION

That is the distancebetween two train(OUTSIDE STATIONLIMITS) is 400 mts.

or more.It is not an avertedcollision

WITHIN STATIONLIMITS

There is an intervening

fixed Stop Signal atdanger governing themoving train andcompliance by themoving train with theindication conveyed by

the Stop Signal avertedthe collision between thetrains or between thetrain and the obstruction.



BREACH OF BLOCK RULES 1.Train entering block section with improper

5 Assistance to Public – Luggage, Drinking Water,Snacks, food Packets,

beverages, Transport, etc.,





6 Medical Assistance - Render First Aid, Identify

doctors traveling by train, take Assistance of any Para medical

staff inform railway hospital,civil hospital, private nursing

homes and clinics etc.,





7. Preserve clues if any - Do not disturb any clues,

preserve the suspected

material, etc.,





8 In case of fire accident - Savelife, isolate the coach, put outthe fire, use fire Extinguishers,

bring down pantograph, put offlights, fans from the terminals.

Train means anengine with orwithout vehiclesattached, or any selfpropelled vehiclewith or without a

trailer, which cannotbe readily lifted offthe track.

AS PER ACC.MANUA A trains is a set of vehicles,

empty or loaded, worked by

locomotive, or any other selfpropelled unit, which cannotbe readily lifted off the trackand running under aparticular number or a

distinct name from fixedpoint of departure to a fixeddestination.



A 1 TO A 4

A1 – Collision involving a train carrying passengersresulting in loss of human life or railway propertyexceeding 25 lakhs.

A2 – Collision involving a train NOT carryingpassengers, resulting loss of human life or lossrailway property exceeding 25 lakhs.

A3 – Collision involving a train carrying passengers,

not falling under A1 above. A4 – Collision involving a train NOT carrying

passengers, not falling under A2 above.



B1 TO B4

B1 – Fire in a train carrying passengers, resulting inloss of human life and damage to RailwayProperty of value exceeding 25 lakhs.

B2 – Fire in a train NOT carrying passengers,resulting in loss human life and or damage toRailway property of value exceeding 25lakhs.

B3 – Fire in a train carrying passengers not falling

under B1 above. B4 – Fire in a train NOT carrying passengers not

A5 – Other collisions i.e collisions occurring in shunting,marshalling yards, loco yards and siding etc, but notinvolving a train.

B7 – Fire occurring in shunting, marshalling yards, loco yards

and siding etc, involving rolling stock but not involvinga train.

C9 – Shunting engine with or without vehicles or loose vehiclesrunning into road traffic and or road traffic running intoshunting engine with or without vehicles or loose vehicles,at level crossings.

D6 – Other derailments, i.e, derailments occurring in shunting,marshalling yards, loco yards and siding etc, but notinvolving a train.



F, G, H F1 – Averted collision between trains at least one of which is carrying passengers.

F2 – Averted collision between a train carrying passengers and an obstruction.

F3 – Averted collision between trains NOT carrying passengers.

F4 – Averted collision between trains NOT carrying passengers and

an obstruction. G1 – Trains carrying passengers, entering a block section without any authority or

without a proper Authority to proceed.

G2 – Trains NOT carrying passengers, entering a block section without any authority orwithout a proper Authority to proceed.

G3 – Trains received on a blocked line, not constituting an averted collision

G4 – Train received on or entering a wrong line at a station or catch siding or slip siding or

sand hump etc., H1 – Train carrying passengers running past a stop signal at danger without proper authority.
