their training. The youngest students at the Academy raise their aggregate training so as to accord with their own capacity for development.

• Full-time professional teachers, top performers in their own fields, are responsible for the quality of the training. Coaches at the Pohjois-Savo Region Academy of Sport give instruction every morning between 8.10 a.m. and 9.30 a.m. and in the afternoons after normal lessons.

athletes. The Academy makes it possible for a student to study the subjects she/he desires while at the same time receiving professional instruction in the sport of his/her choice.

• A combination of studies and sport can always succeed at all levels from comprehensive school to

Teamwork• Athletes at the Sports Academy are extremely motivated and target oriented; they are the

best in their age group. Training in really tough groups is an excellent example of effective the Team-service programme is.

• The athletes are of different ages, on which account the younger ones are able to familiarise themselves with the sharper end of top-class sport which in turn influences their own training.

• Girls and boys train together. The girls benefit from the greater toughness of the boys and the boys learn to be as conscientious and methodical as the girls.
