Prince of Peace Parish25th Anniversary Prayer
Almighty God, we enter your gates with thanksgiving in our hearts and praises on our lips. We thank you for blessing our Prince of Peace family over the past 25 years. You brought us all together, living in peace and love; out of many, you made us one in mind and heart in Christ Jesus.
Thank you for your faithfulness and great love. We trust in your promises that you will never leave us or forsake us. You are our Comforter, our Strength, our great Provider and our Prince of Peace.
May we be obedient to your Holy Spirit, always boldly responding to His Voice. We pledge to be your courageous, persevering servants, O God. We ask you to direct our footsteps at all times. Prince of Peace, be forever in our homes, in our Parish and in the world.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us. Amen.

Dear friends,
Congratulations on the 25th Anniversary of Prince of Peace Parish.
Your community of faith has grown over the years through the commitment of the many families who support Prince of Peace Parish and the volunteers and lay organizations which make significant contributions to the life of the parish.
I pray that God will abundantly bless the priests and the parishioners of this parish as you grow in love of God and in Christian service of others.
Yours sincerely in the Lord,

“Almighty God, we enter your gates with thanksgiving in our hearts and praises on our lips!”
Dear Parishioners and Friends of Prince of Peace Parish,
I gratefully acknowledge the late Fr. Bill Harding and the parish founders for their untold hours of work to build our truly beautiful church and parish complex. My congratulations go to priests and parishioners both past and present who have helped make Prince of Peace the community it is today.
Celebrating the 25th Anniversary of our church is important because it is a time for people to come together to rejoice in the fact that all have stayed together as a community through its faith and in the Eucharist and total trust in Jesus, the Prince of Peace.
I would like to thank our Zone Bishop, His Excellency Vincent Nguyen, for presiding at the Eucharistic table on the day of the celebration.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank most especially, our Parish Pastoral Council and all committees who have helped make the preparation and the anniversary celebration an event to remember. The church has been given some cosmetic changes in preparation for this occasion and this has become possible through the enthusiastic support of our Finance Committee, and most of all, because of the financial help coming from the entire community. We haven’t finished our task. So let’s continue to support our church; be involved in its activities and always be ready to offer loving service to its members and reach out to those who are in need. I pray that God will abundantly bless our community and continually help and guide us to the path of holiness. Praise and thanksgiving to the Lord for the good things He has done for us.Congratulations!
God Bless,
Rev. Regulo ImperialPastor
March 20, 2012
Dear Friends and Fellow Parishioners,
It is a true blessing for all of us to have this opportunity to pause and reflect on the 25th Anniversary of Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Our Parish has been a vital part of the lives of so many of our families over the years. Many of our children have received the sacraments of Baptism, Reconciliation, First Holy Communion and Confirmation at Prince of Peace, and some parishioners have cherished memories of being married here.
Thousands and thousands of us have come to depend on our Prince of Peace Parish as the most important part of our spiritual lives, coming week after week, and some even daily, for nourishment in the Eucharist and the Sacrament of Holy Communion. In so many places in the world, our Catholic sisters and brothers can only dream
of having a place of worship as beautiful as Prince of Peace Church.
We, as the People of God, the outward sign of the Body of Christ, continually demonstrate our love for one another through the many lay ministries in our Parish. Whenever we are away, upon our return, the familiar faces of Prince of Peace are here to greet us once again. As we enter our sanctuary and become aware of the presence of the Blessed Sacrament in the tabernacle, it is then that we know we are once again truly “at home”.
In this special Anniversary Year, let us all endeavour more than ever to build up the community of Prince of Peace. Let us be thankful to the Lord for all the many good blessings that He pours out unceasingly on our Parish family. We are most grateful for the many clergy and religious the Lord has sent to guide us during the last twenty-five years.
On behalf of the Parish Pastoral Council, congratulations to everyone on the blessed occasion of the 25th Anniversary of Prince of Peace Catholic Church. May the next twenty-five years bring us even closer to the Lord, to His Blessed Mother, and to one another through active involvement in our Parish family.
Your brother in Christ,
Bob KaliszPresident, Parish Pastoral Council
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, PRINCE OF PEACE!
Our Parish HistoryThe Prince of Peace Church, Shrine of the Infant Jesus of Prague, serves all Catholics in north Scarborough within the boundaries of Highway 407 to the north, Finch Avenue East to the south, Markham Road to the east and Kennedy Road to the west.
The name for the church was chosen from Isaiah 9:6, “For a child has been born for us, a son given to us; Authority rests upon his shoulders, and he is named; Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
The history of Prince of Peace Parish is a true testament to the faith of both the parish priests and the parishioners who share their gifts of time, talents and treasures to create the Church in which we worship today.
Fr. William F. Harding accepted the challenge to build a new church in Scarborough and on May 24, 1983, Cardinal Carter issued an official letter establishing the new parish and appointed Fr. Bill, as he was affectionately known, as Pastor.
Before the church was built, weekend Masses were held in the gymnasium of Our Lady of Grace School where Fr. Harding performed the sacraments of Baptism, First Holy Communion and Confirmation. The congregation worked together as a family, organizing various fund-raising activities for the construction of the new Church. On February 25, 1985, permission was granted to build the church, the sod turning event took place on November 10, 1985, and the excavation began on June 15, 1986.
The International Year of Peace, 1986, marked the year in which the ‘Divine Infant Jesus’ would have a new home in Prince of Peace Church. The building was completed on December 6, 1986 and the first Masses were celebrated in the new church that very weekend. The official Solemn Blessing of the church took place on May 17, 1987.
The building itself is an architectural wonder with many beautiful artifacts donated by different ethnic groups and individual parishioners:
- A statue of the Infant Jesus of Prague, set in gold leaf, on the roof, over the main entrance to the church.- Beautiful stained glass windows depicting the Paschal mystery – ‘Christ has Died, Christ is Risen, Christ will come again’, located over the Main Altar.- Stained glass windows in the Shrine depict the Nativity, the Rainbow of the Covenant, and the Hemispheres of the World with the words ‘With God there is no East or West, there is no North or South’. Flags from different countries decorated the Shrine area showing the diversity and universality of the congregation and of Canada.- Other stained glass windows depicting the Apparitions of Our Blessed Mother, the Canadian Saints and Martyrs, the Annunciation, Pentecost, the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Last Supper, adorn the church.- Carillon Bells ring out the Angelus and toll on special religious occasions.- An original oil painting of Our Mother of Perpetual Help, set in gold leaf, hangs to the right of the Main Altar.- A custom made gold plated Cross located on the south roof of the church.

Michael McGivney Catholic Academy. Friar Guy Gartland S.A., Franciscan Friars of the Atonement, served as a Pastoral Youth Counsellor [1988-2005] and visited our six Catholic elementary schools once a week for 17 years. Friar Guy died in 2005.
Prince of Peace Parish has been and continues to be blessed with Vocations:
- Fr. Sean Leelung, ordained to the Holy Priesthood, Archdiocese of Toronto in 2005.- Rev. Mr. Eustace Beausoleil ordained to the Permanent Diaconate in 1998.- Rev. In 1995, the building underwent major renovations with the construction of a main Parish Office. The parish hall was re-modelled to include a Boardroom, Kitchen, Two Guest Suites and storage facilities were added.
In 1998, the church saw the creation of its own Website and the introduction of new parish software used for maintaining parishioner’s information.
In 2000, a Grotto in honour of Our Blessed Mother was built at the rear of the church property.
In 2010, an Alcove was added to accommodate the choirs, a new sound system was installed and new musical instruments were acquired.
In 2011, a marble Baptismal Font was erected to the right of the Main Altar.
In 2012, wood panels were installed on the church’s ceiling and a mural of the Holy Spirit was hung from the Sanctuary ceiling.
As the church celebrates its 25th Anniversary, the congregation continues to grow. At present, more than 4,500 parishioners attend Eucharistic Celebrations and the church remains the central meeting place for the various parish ministries.
Every year, many special celebrations bring our parish families together, with one common goal: a dedication to the beautiful Divine Infant Jesus, the Prince of Peace.

25 Plus Years of Service Recognition
Over the years, the Prince of Peace Parish has been blessed with enthusiastic, loyal, and caring workers, generous with their time and talents. Of the many, four deserve special mention this year: Cathy MacNeil, Ken Mohammed, Tom Mitrovski and Friedrich Antazo. They have served the Parish community the longest – some, since its establishment and the youngest, over ten years; at all times serving with ease and grace.
Cathy MacNeil, SecretaryCathy is the welcome face of the parish office. She treats her position as a vocation. Her competence, sensitivity, dedication, and thoroughness are steady influences on her young student clerks as well.
Ken Mohammed, Computer Systems AnalystKen has been a pillar of the parish community from its inception. As the ‘techno whiz’ of the group, he is responsible for maintaining parish office systems and electronic files, the parish website, and is the solid rock to go to for questions computer-related.
Tom Mitrovski, CaretakerTom has been a faithful parishioner for more than 25 years. He has always performed his maintenance duties with diligence and pride, continually striving to keep the church and its grounds attractive, clean, safe, secure, and functional.
Friedrich Antazo, ClerkFriedrich is the handsome young man you have seen at the parish office desk on Sundays for the past 10+ years. He is generous, faithful to his duties and always willing to help the priests, deacons, and parishioners. His smile lights up a room!

25th YEAR ANNIVERSARY MESSAGES from Our Elementary Schools
Our Lady of Grace Catholic School
It has been a great privilege to have served the community of Prince of Peace Church through my work at Our Lady of Grace over the past seven years. The Prince of Peace Church community flourishes due to the patronage and faithfulness of the families who worship at Prince of Peace. Witness to their faith is evidenced through their unselfish gift of self and time through volunteer service, through the choir and musicians, through the many Eucharist ministers, lectors and altar servers. It is the people who form the Church and the people of Prince of Peace Church can be proud of such a rich and vibrant parish.
Congratulations on your 25th anniversary. May the priests and the families of Prince of Peace continue to flourish as faithful servants to our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
God Bless!
Debby Culotta, Principal
Prince of Peace Catholic SchoolOn behalf of the students, staff and parents of Prince of Peace Catholic School I am pleased to offer congratulations to Prince of Peace Catholic Church on the occasion of their 25th anniversary. Twenty-five years is a tremendous milestone and you have accomplished a lot in those years.
We all know how much Jesus loves children, and over the past twenty-five years Prince of Peace Church has worked closely with the school staff and parents to help the children get to know and love Christ.
Thank you to Father Reg and Father Patrick for your continued guidance and support with our sacramental preparations and celebrations and the regular school liturgical celebrations.
May God’s blessings continue to be bestowed upon the priests and the families and may you continue to grow in faith and diversity.
Happy Anniversary!

St. Marguerite Bourgeoys
For a quarter century the Parish of Prince of Peace has anchored the students of St. Marguerite Bourgeoys CS in our pursuits of a lifelong spiritual quest in the development of our Catholic values, attitudes and actions. Through the parish we are all rooted in the life and gospel of Jesus Christ. This growing understanding of the gospel and the Mass continues to shape and inform our understanding of the human person and our continued interactions with the Church. From the initial moments of Baptism in Christ we are empowered to share in the ministry and mission of Christ which is to witness
the Gospel and to incorporate these elements in faith throughout all of our daily thoughts and interactions. Every one of us now has the opportunity to pause for thought and prayer and set again a promise to ourselves with the help of our Church community, to renew our vision and interaction with others. Yes there are always personal and more global challenges ahead but with the continuing support of the Prince of Peace Church and its parishioners we are heartened to know that our way ahead is clear and with direction.
R. Chubb, Principal
St. Rene Goupil
The staff, students and families of St. Rene Goupil School would like to extend their congratulations to Prince of Peace Parish as they mark the 25th Anniversary of the official blessing of Prince of Peace Catholic Church this year. Our school has enjoyed a wonderful relationship with the Parish since the start and we look forward to this continuing into the future. From preparing students to receive the sacraments, to attending Masses at the church and having the priests join us at the school, we appreciate and value the important foundation that the school, the parish and the home
provide for our students. Happy Anniversary!
Ann McInerney, Principal
St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School
We here at St. Vincent De Paul would like to send our congratulations to Prince of Peace Church on the occasion of their 25th anniversary.
Over the past 25 years the priests have supported our students in their faith journeys and the preparation and reception of their sacraments. We really appreciate the collaboration between school and church, Reverend Father Imperial’s leadership, and Father Patrick’s willingness to say school Masses for us whenever called upon to do so.
May God continue to shower His blessings on all parishioners of Prince of Peace Parish for many years to come.
Anne Brander, Principal
The Divine Infant
Our school, The Divine Infant, is also named after the Prince of Peace and we are also celebrating our 25th Anniversary this year. We will begin our celebration with Mass at Prince of Peace Catholic Church on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. We hope you will be able to join us. Our school has always enjoyed a close relationship with Prince of Peace Parish. Many children have received their First Communion and Confirmation at Prince of Peace. This year, the TCDSB
Witness Cross was processed by students from our school to the church to be present for a school Mass. We also celebrate Mass at the school with priests from the parish. We are happy to have the treasure of a Catholic School in close conjunction with Prince of Peace Church and we look forward to another 25 years of working in partnership for Catholic Education.

We Are Gathered in Faith and Diversity
By: Kelly Cheung, Ada Chu, and Queenie Li, Grade 8
Prince of Peace Catholic School
As Catholics, we are all faithful to God. The Prince of Peace Parish is like a family where everyone shares our faith and
belief in our Lord. Every time someone goes to church to receive the Holy Eucharist, it is a symbol of our everlasting faith
in God, our Father. This parish is built on the faith we have in God to not abandon us in our time of need, but to aid us. We
live our lives by the Ten Commandments and follow in God’s footsteps. However, our faith doesn’t stop there. All the
people that supported the church and saw it expand have faith in it. The faith that we have in our Prince of Peace Parish
was not gained overnight, but established year by year over the last 25 years.
We are diverse in our parish because no matter what culture, race, or country we’re from, everyone welcomes one another
into our ever-growing family. Even though we are diverse, we sing and pray in unity. We all believe in God, but can serve
Him in different ways. Everyone is unique and has their own special talents. Although we are all different, we all share the
same feelings of respect, acceptance and not passing of judgment towards one another. As a big, diverse parish family, we
all follow in God’s footsteps the best we can.
Everyone in this church loves and serves the Lord. We show it in different ways such as following the Ten
Commandments to the fullest, or going to Mass together. We, as a family, can only hope and pray that our Prince of Peace
Parish will last for generations to come, spreading faith and diversity. We will help others to live in peace, harmony, love,
and in God’s will.
Happy 25th Anniversary, Prince of Peace!

David SilveiraOctober 25th 1982 – January 6th 2006
With Christ, which is far betterYou left us all so suddenly,
a piece of us went with you.Leaving precious memories,
ones, so dear and true.
If God would grant us just one wish,a dream that could come true,
we’d pray to Him with all our hearts,to spend some time with you.
You’re in God’s care now,He’s put us to the test.
We humbly bow and say,“Dear Lord, you know what’s best.”
