Dear Families and Friends of Prince of Peace Catholic School, I still remember the parish festival as a child – and that was a few years ago! There is something about running around with your friends, playing games, getting your face painted, and prizes that are memory makers for a child. Sure, in school, students have times to run around with friends, play some games, and occasionally get prizes. For some reason, the memory of a single school day just gets lost in the overall memory of school. Granted, it is hard to compete with face painting - during the school day the closest thing to face painting is lunch on the face of our young students. I hope to see you all at the Fall Festival. This event is the one event that is truly for the kids and truthfully it is a lot of fun for all. I encourage our 7th and 8th graders to volunteer and if you are in need of family service hours, if both parents and students volunteer, this counts as a family service opportunity. See the Time To Sign Up link below. Wristband presales have been extended to Monday and the form is attached. Our school community has changed somewhat during the course of a year with the addition of Saint John Paul II Parish. Though we may spend our weekends in different faith communities, we are still one as a Prince of Peace Catholic School faith community. PTO has many social events this year to give all an opportunity to come together as a school community. Save the date for our first night out at Jason’s Deli on September 20th. PTO will also host a hospitality room at our K-3 family Stem Night which all will also enjoy. It has been a great beginning of the year. A huge Thank You to all the returning POP families that have dropped off Box Tops & Hy-Vee receipts over the summer. For new families to POP: please start saving your Box Tops & Hy-Vee receipts to help our school earn FREE money! Please note that Box Tops do have an expiration date so be mindful when turning them in. WHY DO THEY DO THAT??

Have you ever wondered why the school does something in the manner we do? We realize you may wonder and encourage you to ask. We will try to feature some responses to these items in the newsletter each week. Since black and white are standard colors with no variation and to help give our families a more affordable uniform option, black pants and shorts and also white polo shirts may be purchased at any store. All other uniform options must be purchased through Dennis Uniform SAINT THOMAS AQUINAS SOUND OF MUSIC PRODUCTION
