YOUNG ENERGETIC SOCIETY
WHAT IS YES?
• Young Energetic Society (YES) is a youth movement and a new effort by the youth of modern India, to fight the emerging Global poverty and motivate the youth to do social work and also uplifting the life of the underprivileged children in the neighborhood and across the country. YES had its humble inception on December 22nd, 2006 under the Societies Registration Act XX1 of 1860.
• OUE MISSION:‐ is to make a visible difference in the quality of life of underprivileged section through better health, education and skill building. While trying to educate these children we at YES realized that along with teaching the children it is vital to educate the parents before educating the children.

HOW YES STARTED
RANI & MEHNAZ
• YEAR: 2005 • LOCATION: Slum area near Village Sadarpur, NOIDA. • INCIDENT: A 6 yrs old naked girl, Mehnaz, asking for clothes.
• REALIZATION: That thousands of such children are deprived of basic necessities, waiting for people to come & rescue them out of this perpetual misery.
This marked the beginning of a new movement in our hearts.

WORKING OF YES YES believes in working for the underprivileged society and the youth of our country in every area with a vision of their upliftment and betterment related to every aspect in which they lack. The basic criteria that YES follow are:‐
CHILD EDUCATION
AWARENESS CAMPAIGN
CULTURAL ACTIVITIES
EVENTS
AWAKENING OF YOUTH
CAPACITY BUILDING
http://www. joinyes.org
CHILD EDUCATION This involves basically the primary teachings in which the members of YES go to slums and teach the kids the basics of education starting from A, B, C, D TO 1,2,3,4 moving onto general knowledge and sense of current affairs. Teaching them about social responsibility is another part of child education. We teach the slum kids etiquettes and values. We insist them to stop begging and try to put realization in them about the need and importance of education in one’s life.
Child nurturing is another aim. There are lots of slum kids who are under the grip of an evil known as addiction. Since they are most vulnerable getting addicted to alcohol tobacco and cigarette (bidi) is nothing new in slums. Every day when the members take education classes of these kids they tell them the nuances of the addiction. We force them to quit alcohol or tobacco and make them understand the negative effect of these on their life & future. We try to make them aware about the need of education in any life and instill determination in them to become something great in life ahead, to become successful in life and get out of this downtrodden life. We try to shape their future by making them understand the difference between their present life and a better future. We teach them about healthy & hygienic life and about various diseases.
Students are very happy and now become part of YES family. They always say “Bhaiya/sir aap ke bina mann nahi lagta” Some students are doing exceptionally well.
Child labor and child abuse – Child labor is a very big issue and need urgent attention. YES is trying very hard
to make the childrens come out of it. YES also did a
protest march at JANTAR MANTAR on 13th nov. 2007
against child labor.
We organize events such as PRATIBHA to enhance their
talent and give scope for cultural activities.

ADULT AWARENESS
The main motive of YES is to help the slum kids to grow into a better human being. For this just nurturing them is not enough. Creating awareness among their parents is another crucial aspect. YES shows presentations and documentaries on projectors in various slums for the kids as well as their guardians. We make them understand their social responsibility, responsibility towards their children. We make them aware about social issues such as child trafficking, child abuse, health issues‐ aids, tuberculosis, viral diseases, hygiene methods, swine flu etc. We aware them about their rights given by the government to them. We tell them about Right to Information Act (RTI), about various privileges given to them on government level. We try to uplift their mental ability, expand their vision, and try to decrease their orthodox attitude towards girls and other aspects. Aware them about population issues & necessity of a healthy hygienic life etc.

AWAKENING OF YOUTH
As is said future of any country is in the hands of its youth. However now‐a‐days youths are deviating from their path, their motive. Youths are getting distracted from the mainstream; they do not realize the need of their contribution for their own motherland. For this Young Energetic Society organizes programmes and events to awaken the youth to their responsibility. Motto of YES is not to as the youth to leave aside their enjoyment and give full time to social work. It is to tell them that for sure they should work on their dreams and parents expectations, they should go to clubs, watch movies, have party but take out 60 mins per day for their social responsibility, their contribution towards their country. YES appeals to all youth to understand their requirement and role in shaping future of the underprivileged section which in turn will help their country to grow and prosper. YES organizes meeting on important days such as 15th august and 26th January to put in some more patriotism in the youths. YES organizes seminars on Youth related issues (Youth awakening seminar on 12th jan 2009 at Indira Gandhi Kala Kendra Auditorium‐noida & conference on Women issues). Meetings are called to discuss these topics and keep the fire & dedication alive in every heart.

AWARENESS CAMPAIGN
AWARE INDIA In the first phase, YES spread awareness in the different locations of Noida and got very positive results . In the first Phase i.e. 31 May 2009 – 10 June, YES covered 7 slums. YES placed a projector in different slums of Noida to spread awareness regarding issues such as compulsory education, health hazard diseases, Sarv shiksha abhiyan, Harmful effects of drugs, alcohol consumption, female foeticide, child labour & Right to information act. And also, to make them aware about different government schemes especially made for them but it’s an irony in INDIA that the people are not at all aware of such schemes for whom the schemes are made. Till now few government agencies and non profit organizations tried to aware these people through various activities like street plays (Nukkar‐Natak) and it’s proved to be effective in some areas. YOUNG ENERGETIC SOCIETY adapt unique and advanced ideas to aware the underprivileged section with the help of the projector. As most of these people dosen’t have small screen at their places. This method of projecting the awareness programs on large screen is attractive one to make the people of the underprivileged section stick at one place and watch the programmes. Basically “Aware India” is committed towards the quality education to the underprivileged section through Alternative and innovative education (AIE). This Programme aims to increase awareness amongst underprivileged section and the youth and how they can bring a change in their life. The lack of awareness leads to ordinary people becoming extremely vulnerable and disempowered with respect to the developing country. This needs to be remedied by establishing and implementing overarching system of awareness programmes.

PRATIBHA (Art with Heart)
With the advent of more interactions and social work, the members realized that for the betterment of the working profile of the organization, apart from the education, there should be more cultural activities introduced by YES in the slums. Cultural Activities are a part of every child’s nurturing strategy. Its is very important for a child to get involved in such activities apart from studies to strike a balance and enhance their self confidence. For this reason YES introduced scope for the underprivileged in painting, dance, drama etc to enable them to bring out their hidden talent apart from the educational qualification so that they can survive in this society related to any field.
PAINTING: YES provides a platform to the kids where they can fill colors of imagination and excitement on a blank sheet. We provide these kids with drawing paper, pencils, erasers, water colors, paint brushes etc. The slum kids are given chance to pour their heart out on the paper and show their creativity. Its an opportunity for these kids to forget their sorrows and tensions and just enjoy. The kids paint and draw whatever they like which reflects their state of mind. It also gives us a better understanding of what they think.
http://www. joinyes.org
DANCE‐: Dancing is something which relieves all tension and stress. It is one of the most entertaining activities. Young Energetic Society also provides Dance classes to these kids. YES provides odissi (classical) classes by eminent odissi dancer Mrs Jyoti Srivastava. Other than that, the kids dance on bollywood nos., freestyle, regional songs etc….whatever they like and in whatever they excel. This activity has brought out many dancers from the slums. SHAMAK DABAR GROUP Sponsored 10 childrens for free dance classes.
DRAMA: YES also organizes Drama classes for the underprivileged so that those who have hidden acting talent can be brought forward to the world. It is supervised by the students of ASMS who are from theatre and acting classes.
ART & CRAFT: In this section YES aims at the creative aspect of the slum. This section involved making handicrafts, art of clay making and poetry recitation.
SPORTS: Apart from these YES also organizes sports activities for the slum kids. Every day the children after being taught are made to play any games. Everyday slum children come to the office of YES to study after that they play any physical game. Aim is to keep them mentally and physically fit. Once in a while the members go to the slums and organize cricket and football games where even the guardians take part.

ACHIEVEMENTS OF YES
The success of every programme is one of the achievements
of YES.
Strength of 200 members in our organization gives YES new

members joining.
YES has attained a name & existence in society
Success and reach of Pratibha (in society and in lives of the slum dwellers has made it an annual fest of Young Energetic
society and it will be continued every year at a larger scale.
The growth and success of young energetic society dispite of all the members being unemployed and students.
We all are aware of the Indian societal structure where in a
middle class family the expectation from a child is to grow
into a career oriented, working class employed
man/women. Coming from such families, the members of
YES has achieved the support of their family after the span
of 3 yrs of convincing and going through struggle.
Greatest achievement is to being able to convince our
parents to look at our dreams with our vision and
understand our feeling for YES. Except YES as our family and
support & motivate us for the social cause.
