Legal Services Division Beyond Excellence Program

About

Our Program

Alberta Justice and Solicitor General (JSG) Legal Services Division encourages a culture of

recognition and appreciation. We are dedicated to showing our appreciation for the

extraordinary work and dedication our employee’s display throughout the year. The Legal

Services Division Beyond Excellence Program has been initiated to promote awareness and

recognition for all the hard work that goes on in Legal Services. The program is twofold - get

Directors and staff thinking about achievements and identifying submissions for the Ministry

Team Awards while at the same time recognizing day to day achievements within the

department. Not only will this program allow us to highlight positives in our day to day work it

will also aid in tracking early achievements within our Division.

The Legal Services Division Beyond Excellence Program is solely merit based and is conducted

through a peer nomination process. Recognition will be granted to employees who meet the

criteria and display exceptional work ethic.

How will employees be recognized and rewarded?

Submissions for the Legal Services Division Beyond Excellence Program can be submitted

throughout each month. All submissions must be forwarded to your Director by the end of

each month. When a nomination is approved by the Director, the nominator and nominee(s)

will be notified. A monthly recognition bulletin will be posted every month to LION on the

intranet where successful nominees will be recognized for their achievements.

Why use peer nominations only?

Remember this program serves two purposes – one of those being to get Directors and staff

thinking about achievements and identifying submissions for the Ministry Team Awards while

at the same time recognizing day to day achievements within the department. We must ensure

our methods for our divisional recognition program goes hand in hand with the Ministry wide

Rewards and Recognition of Excellence Program, which utilizes peer nominations. Also, we

encourage everyone in our division to recognize one another for their accomplishments.

Coworkers often have the best view when it comes to seeing the efforts of fellow employees

and it is often more significant to review a recognition from the people around you than from

another source.
