Wheat Bran
Pro-Kashi is a small family based busi-
ness intent on educating, enabling, and
providing quality products to our custom-
ers. Through the use of Pro-Kashis pro-
biotic enfused bokashi wheat bran one
can reduce their environmental impact by
recycling their organic kitchen wastes and
reusing them to improve their soils, gar-
den, and home grown foods
Unlike conventional composting (which
can take up to a year, requires turning,
large bins, is unable to accept meats,
dairy, fat products, and looses a large
quantity of nutrients), Pro-Kashi wheat
bran processes all home generated or-
ganic wastes through an anaerobic fer-
mentation process that is cleaner, safer,
higher in bio available nutrients to the soil
and plants in a fraction of the time and all
year long.

Traditional all natural bokashi wheat bran in-
fused with Beneficial Microorganisms.
No Genetically Modified Organisms
No chemicals, no preservatives
Safe, efficient, reduced Green House gasescompared to traditional composting methods
Composting year round (indoor and outdoor)
Able to handle materials not compostable by
other methods (meats and dairy)
Able to handle any amount of waste material
large or small at any time
No turning, low labor method of composting
Increases macro and micro soil biology, organic matter, and bio-available nutrients
Retains more nutrients in composted materi-
als through fermentative process than tradi-
tional methods while adding plant and soil
ready vitamins, minerals, and enzymes
Composting anywhere (Apartments, Condos,
small or limited yard space)
Beneficial organisms outcompete or destroy
pathogens, creating a healthier plant/soil

Japanese for Fermented Organic Matter.
System of anaerobic composting of organic
materials that includes meats and dairy.
Wheat or Rice Bran that is inoculated with
Beneficial Microorganisms that ferment
organic waste for composting.
History
Japanese scientist Dr.
Teruo Higa a professor
of horticulture at the
College of Agriculture,
University of the Ryu-
kyus in Okinawa, Japan
studied the use of Bene-
ficial Microorganisms
and their use to promote
safe, effective, nontoxic natural farming and
soil building alternatives to the use of
chemical agents.
How
Bokashi composting uses naturally occur-
ring bacteria, yeasts, and phototropic organ-
isms to ferment/pickle organic wastes.
Guiding the decomposition process this way
prevents the loss of nutrients in the com-
posted materials, makes these nutrients
more bioactive and quickly available to
plants and soil organisms, while adding
naturally occurring beneficial enzymes. Bo-
kashi compost feeds the soil which in turn
creates a healthier environment that feeds
the plants; allowing the plant to use its en-
ergy to grow larger, healthier, faster.
Process
Use any container (1-5 gallon or larger) with an
air tight lidpreferably with a spigot or spout on
the bottom -although not absolutely necessary.
Fill the bottom of the container first with a thin
layer of Pro-Kashi Wheat Bran Bokashi and
begin layering organic kitchen wastes on topno more than 2 to 3 deep.
After each layer of waste sprinkle a 1/8 cup or
small handful of Pro-Kashi bran on top, press
down with a small plate, piece of cardboard, or
anything to remove/exclude as much air as
possible from inside the layer and cover the top
(this is an anaerobicwithout air process).
Snap on your buckets air tight lidthat is it.
Continue the process of adding waste material
layers and Pro-Kashi bran until the bucket isfull. All the while the material inside is ferment-
ing and being inoculated with Beneficial Micro-
organisms that are digesting the waste.
Every 2-3 days remove the liquid that will collect
in the bottom of the bucket. This is a living tea
that has additional uses - do not waste it.
When the bucket is full, allow it to ferment
sealed for an additional 2 weeks. Drain the liq-
uid one last time and then simply bury the
waste 6 to 12 inches deep in the garden.
Do not let plant roots come into contact with the
fresh material for about 2 weeks when burying.
Alternatively add Bokashi to existing compost
piles, tumbler bins, or place in the bottom of
raised bed or planter pots (place a layer of soil
or compost in the bottom of the planter pot first,
then Bokashi compost, then a 12 layer of soil
on top). When adding Bokashi compost to the
ground, mix some soil into the fermented waste
to assist in the final break down of the material.
After 2 weeks plant directly on top.
Uses
Bokashi bran can compost organic kitchen
wastes to include meats and dairy (not possi-
ble with other composting methods)
Bokashi bran is used as a natural kitty litter
and odor reducer in cat boxes and small ani-
mal cages
Bokashi bran can be used to compost pet
wastes in an outdoor digester. This compost
cannot be used for human gardening/food
consumption; however, it can be used to fertil-
ize ornamental plants and flowers.
Bokashi bran can be used by itself to stimu-
late soils, compost piles, lawns, break down
garden wastes, increase soil micro and macro
biota.
Bokashi liquid that is drained from the buckets
during fermentation is a living tea full of bene-
ficial and bioactive microorganisms, enzymes,
and vitamins.
Bokashi liquid can be diluted and sprayed as
a foliar fertilizer on plants, flowers, soils, and
traditional compost piles.
Bokashi liquid can be used full strength to
remove odors from drains, naturally digest
clogs in slow running drains, and added safely
to septic systems to increase their efficiency.
Bokashi composting can be done year round.
