Feedback from patients

“It’s nice to have health checks coming to us rather than having to seek it out myself.”

“I thought I was perfectly healthy, but now you’ve told me about my BMI I know I need to change my lifestyle.”

“I’m really struggling with stopping smoking, thanks for the chat! I’ll go to the drop in centre you recommended – I didn’t even know it was there.”

“I’m going to make an appointment with my GP about my blood pressure now you’ve told me it’s high.”

“I’ve not been able to get an appointment with my GP for weeks – really good to be able to get a health check here.”

• Positive feedback for all aspects of the campaign with people praising the range of information and services available.

• People were not aware of all the services available to them in their local area, but once they were made aware they said they would definitely use them

• Stop smoking teams reported that, of 8 people in Loughborough referred on to a drop in service 7 attended

• The vast majority of people seen for health checks were obese and many were unaware of this.

• Concerns raised around the wider NHS services

– In general it is not the medical treatment but the access to it which causes most concern.

Working with Partners• Campaign ran in partnership with

West Leicestershire CCG, PPGs Public Health, HealthWatch, VAL and Leicestershire County Council

• Uptake of all services and checks on offer across the week from partners was good

• All groups felt that this should be something that should become regular event which they would be keen to support

What has changed or is new and needs to be considered

• Challenge of involving the broader communities• Challenge of running PPG• Difficulty in some areas to engage fully with GP/practice staff• Getting your success and great work recognised• Introduction of Primary Medical Care Plan and development of

Locality Federations - a federated locality is where your local GP and their practice work with other practices in the area to increase the opportunity to develop a wider range of community services for patients, whilst making more effective use of resources, including staff and premises

• The CCGs new mechanism for having a conversation with patients, carers, front line staff to understand their experiences of using health services and what matters most

Page 17: Public and Stakeholder West Leicestershire PPG Network Thursday 16 April 2016

• More requests to take up your time – which is a precious asset• Better Care Together – ambitious and significant programme to

transform the health and social care system in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland

• Other reviews of services – e.g. Hinckley community services review

• Better Care Fund – integrating health and social care service and responding 24/7 to patients and service users

• Alliance Contract - providing services including outpatient appointments, outpatient treatment, day case surgery, radiology and community paediatric services across all our community hospitals.
