A short description of the study area Metro Vancouver is a partnership of 21 municipalities, one Electoral Area and one Treaty First Nation that collaboratively plans for and delivers regional-scale services. (Metrovancouver.org, 2015)

1. TransLink is Metro Vancouver's regional Public Transportation Authority. 2. They are responsible for regional transit, cycling and commuting options

as well as Intelligent Transportation System programs. Their services are delivered through various operating companies.

3. They also share responsibility for the Major Road Network (MRN) and regional cycling with municipalities in Metro Vancouver.

4. They are the first North American transportation authority to be responsible for the planning, financing and managing of all public transit in addition to major regional roads and bridges. (Translink.ca, 2015)

Types of Public Transportation Used inMETRO VANCOUVER

There are four public Transport means are widely being used in the METRO VANCOUVER. They are:

★ Bus services★ SkyTrain★ West Coast Express★ SeaBus

Bus Services:

Bus service operates throughout most the region under two subsidiary of Translink. They are:

➔ Coast Mountain Bus Company: which operates the buses throughout Greater Vancouver

➔ West Vancouver Blue Bus Company: which are actually part of the TransLink network but continue to be owned and operated by the District Municipality of West Vancouver under a contract to TransLink.

SkyTrain

It is world's longest automated light rapid transit system utilizing the world's longest transit-only bridge, the SkyBridge. It consist of 4 networks, one of them is being built, has 68.7 km (42.7 mi) of track and also has a total of 47 stations on three in operation network lines. The networks of the SkyTrain are:

➢ Canada Line: Line length of 19.2 km (11.9 mi)➢ Millennium Line: Line length of 20.3 km (12.6 mi)➢ Expo Line: Line length of 28.9 km (18.0 mi)➢ Evergreen Line: Line length of 10.9 km (Under Construction)

SkyTrain has had a significant impact on the development of areas near stations, and has helped to shape urban density in Metro Vancouver.

West Coast Express

West Coast Express is a Monday to Friday commuter rail service operating during peak morning and evening periods between downtown Vancouver and Mission, it western coastal hub.

with five trains per day running from Mission to Vancouver in the morning peak hours and returning to Mission in the evening peak.

A one-way trip takes 75 minutes, which is faster and more reliable than driving to Downtown Vancouver.

In addition, there are two buses (called the "TrainBus") which operate to Vancouver in the morning (after all the trains depart) and five operating eastbound (two mid-day, and three after all trains leave Vancouver eastbound), stopping just at West Coast Express stations.

SeaBus

The SeaBus is a passenger-only ferry service in Metro Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It crosses Burrard Inlet to connect the cities of Vancouver and North Vancouver.

Owned by TransLink and operated by the Coast Mountain Bus Company, the SeaBus forms an important part of the region's integrated public transportation system.

The current SeaBus fleet consists of the four vessels.
