FOOD FOR THOUGHT

For the month of February the focus will be on Love. 4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres. 8Love never fails. 1 Corinthians 14:4-8. There is so much that can be written on the subject of Love. Jesus taught, 37Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38This is the first and greatest commandment. 39And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. Matthew 22:37-39

Love your neighbor as yourself. In some cases if we treated (loved) our neighbor as we treat (loved) ourselves we surely would not be very good neighbors. Sometimes we don’t like ourselves very much. We walk around with our heads down, grumpy and mad at the world. Maybe we are still beating ourselves up over things of the past and discontent. Because we are unhappy and discontent we

keep ourselves hidden within the four walls of our room. Isolation is a very serious problem and is very damaging. How can we have love for our neighbor if we don’t care anything for ourselves? How can we connect with a neighbor if we waste our days away in isolation? There is a remedy a solution for the loneliness of isolation. Seek out your purpose, find your place in something that calls to you and puts a beam of light on your life. Do something for someone else without expecting anything in return, do it anonymously, RANDOMLY and with love in your heart. That will make all the difference in your life. LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOUR SELF.

Various Love Quotes

Love makes obedience a thing of joy. To do the will of one we like to please is never hardship, though it tax our strength; each privilege of service love will seize! Love makes us loyal. Glad to do our go, and eager to defend a name or cause; love takes the drudgery from common work, and asks no rich reward or great applause, love gives us satisfaction in our task, and wealth in

learning lessons of the heart; love sheds a light of glory on our toil and makes us humbly glad to have a part. Love makes us choose to do the will of God, to run His errands and proclaim His truth; it gives our hearts an eager, lilting song; our feet shod with tireless wings of youth! Hazel Hartwell Simon

Love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into a friend. Martin Luther King.

Faith is the key to fit the door of hope, but there is no power anywhere like love for turning it. Elaine Emans

I have found a paradox that if I love until it hurts, then there is no hurt, but only more love. Mother Teresa of Calcutta

Love must be learned, and learned again and again; there is no end to it. Hate needs no instruction but wants only to be provoked. Katherine Anne Porter

Love looks through a telescope; envy, through a microscope. Anonymous

Love is only for the young the middle aged, and the old. Anonymous

SECOND THOUGHT

We all have different thoughts about family. Some good, some not so good. Sometimes through mistakes we have made, blood relatives have turned their backs and walked away. This can cause feelings of abandonment and feeling alone in the world. We keep hoping that through forgiveness, our family will someday be reunited. When that doesn’t happen when we want, we become depressed and slip into a world where we put up a wall of isolation shutting out everyone who might, with love and understanding, know what we are going through. If we’d only let them in to fill the emptiness.

How can you fill the void of the heart? The emptiness that effects every corner of your life. Not knowing which way to turn we remain in isolation. I have discovered over time that I cannot do anything on my own power. By myself I cannot feel a sense of belonging, and I am not able to help myself. I need to have people around me.

When I don’t want to be with anyone that is when I need people the most. I find comfort within the Sold Out Family. Peace is found in being with and doing for others. Joy is found when you discover your purpose. Love, found in friendship and fellowship with like-minded Christians fills the void.

I write all this to share a story of a Sold Out family member and friend, in need. Living in undesirable conditions, a change was needed. Having shared his situation with others, change was possible. We all knew there would be a place available here at the Continental. After patiently waiting for the right time to make a move, the needed change came. Other members of the Sold Out Family took the time to help make that move. That is the importance of family and friendship. To help one another in time of need.

1Keep on loving each other as brothers. 2Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it. Hebrews 13:1-2

28And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28

HEAVEN’S GROCERY STORE

I was walking down life’s highway a long time ago. One day I saw a sign that read, “Heaven’s Grocery Store”. As I got a little closer, the door came open wide, and when I came to myself, I was standing inside. I saw a host of angels, they were standing everywhere. One handed me a basket and said, “My child, please shop with care”. Everything a Christian needs is in that grocery store, and all you can’t carry, you can come back the next day for more. First, I got some patience; Love was in the same row. Further down was under-standing that’s needed everywhere you go. I got a box or two of wisdom, a bag or two of faith. I just couldn’t miss the Holy Ghost; it was all over the place. I stopped to get some strength, and courage to help me run this race, but then my basket

was getting full, when I remembered I needed Grace. I didn’t forget salvation, which like the others was free. So I tried to get enough of that to save both you and me. So I started to the counter to pay my grocery bill, when I thought I had everything to

do my master’s will. As I went up the aisle, I saw prayer that had to go in. I knew when I step outside; I would run right into sin. Peace and joy were plentiful; they were on the last shelf. Song and praises were hanging near, so I just helped myself. Then I said

to the Angel, “how much do I owe?” The angel smiled and said, “Just take them wherever you go”. Again I politely asked, “How much do I really owe?” The Angel smiled again and said, “My child, Jesus paid your bill a long time ago.” Author: Troy Mosley
