Hi and welcome to the Phil Kenyon Putting Academy.I am a specialist putting coach helping amateurs and pro golfers all over the world to improve their game.

I’ve been lucky enough to work with some of the best golfers on the planet including Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose, Francesco Molinari, Gary Woodland, Henrik Stenson and Tommy Fleetwood.

Myself and my team have had huge success including 4 Majors and over 70 wins on the European and PGA tours and I’ve also coached at 4 Ryder Cups.

This gift is for you…whether you are relatively new to golf looking to quickly lower your score and enjoy the game more… a mid-handicap golfer looking to get to single figures and take some of the frustration out of your game…or an avid low handicap club golfer looking to gain that confident, consistent putting stroke of the pros.

This bonus cheat sheet will give you an insight into the warm up routines we use to get the best players putting well but also if you only have 5 minutes before you tee off. Take this with you, print it out so you can always know what to do to create a winning start.

Enjoy, and play well.

Does your warm up consist of a few hurried,

half-hearted putts before you head to the first tee?

Are you setting yourself up for another day of putting frustration?“I could have been 5 better today if

I’d have holed a putt…”

Gaining some momentum is HUGE in golf.

Start the round poorly on the greens and it’s tough to turn the tide. Hole a few putts early

and you can ride the wave!

Developing an individual putting warm up; which tunes you in to your aim

and start line, the green speed and different breaking

putts gives you your BEST chance of success.

It buys you the chance to gain some early

momentum and take that confidence

into the rest of your round.

How do the best in the world prepare to putt their best?Let’s take a look how a typical tour golfer putting warm up looks…

1. Calibrate their putter face aim. Dial in their perception of good aim

2. Calibrate their start line. Get the feel of their stroke technique – warm up their movement and co-ordination

3. Some block and random putts from distance to calibrate green speed. Using multiple slopes and putt angles

4. Read some shallow and larger breaking putts. Using different slopes & changes in angle

5. Read and hit some putts inside 10ft with full routine; preparing and rehearsing full routine

6. Have some time mentally preparing to go to the first tee; with their aim, stroke, speed control, green reading and routine tuned-up and ready for play

Whilst you might not have the time and facilities that the best golfers in the world have, you can prepare to putt your best with some structure to your putting warm-up.

Let’s take a look at an example of a realistic, 30 minute putting warm up, that would stack the odds in your favour of an improvement to your putting performance….

You’ve calibrated your start line, got a feel for the green speed, read and hit different breaking putts and warmed up your routine…..you’re good to go!

5 Minutesfind a straight putt inside 8ft. Hit multiple putts;

stepping out of your set up position between each

putt. Rehearse getting into your set up and getting

comfortable. Use an aim reference for first 10 putts (if

you have one) then remove.

10 Minutesblock practice speed with a ladder drill: 3 balls. Move

away from a hole putting uphill at 10ft, 20ft, 30ft and

40ft. Then putt downhill to a hole the same distance

ranges (24 putt total)

5 Minutesrandom speed with one ball. Move around the green

and hit different putts from outside 20ft using different

slopes, changing hole for every putt

10 MinutesPutts at 10ft – 3ft with one ball & full routine. This is

your time to mentally prepare going to the tee box.

Start with a putt from 10ft then move around the hole,

changing the putt angle each time. Move closer to the

hole one-foot each time; finishing at 3ft. Aim to hole

all the putts from 6ft and inside (take another go if you

miss, you have time with 10 minutes allowed for 8

putts)

Ok, so you’re tight for time, or you have a 7am tee time and value your sleep.

Let’s take a look at a quick-fix 5-10minute warm up for golfers battling the clock...

In 5 minutes you’ve hit long and mid-range putts with different breaks, then finished up moving closer to the hole covering different slopes and angles. In a short time you’ve maximised your chances of a successful day on the greens

One ball;

1. Hit 5 different putts from outside 30ft, each to a new hole.

2. At one hole, hit a 20ft, 15ft, & 10ft putt, changing the angle to hole

each putt (move around hole)

3. Move to a new hole and hit an 8ft, 6ft & 4ft putt changing the

angle to the hole for each putt

4. Finish with two 5ft putts (one left to right and one right to left

break) and finally two 3ft putts; one downhill and one uphill.
