    CHILDREN’S LITURGY OF THE WORD

Sunday 10:00am Mass This program invites pre-school age children, 4 to 7, as well as those that have not received Holy Communion yet (essentially grades PreK-2), to experience the Word of God at their level with an age-appropriate Scripture lesson taught during the

Liturgy of the Word. Following the lesson, which takes place in the Church basement, children rejoin their families at Mass.

We still have more than two weeks to go until Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, February 26. We have scheduled a variety of Lenten activities; I want to mention a few now so you can look ahead and arrange your Lenten schedule to take full advantage.

On the weekend of February 29 / March 1, Father Ryan Mann will preach at all our Masses and invite our participa-tion in our 2020 Parish Lenten Retreat. Father Ryan’s topic will be “I Will Give You a New Heart.” There will be three Retreat presentations: Sunday, March 1 at 6:45pm and Monday and Tuesday, March 2 and 3, each evening at 7:30pm in church. Many will remember Father Ryan as a dynamic speaker from his time here as parochial vicar 2014-2018.

On the five remaining Mondays in Lent 2020, March 9, 16, 23, 30 and April 6, we are offering a unique opportunity for our parish to grow in the three Lenten practices of fasting, almsgiving, and prayer. We are calling it...

“Soup Night, Mass, and Sacraments”FASTING: All parishioners are invited to share a simple

meal of homemade soup, bread, and a beverage. That meal will be served in the Lower Hall each Monday from 5:00 until 6:30pm.

ALMSGIVING: There is no charge for the meal, but your freewill offering will go to our St Charles Cyrenian Ministry that feeds the poor, the homeless, and those in special treatment.

PRAYER: The Sacraments are at the heart of our Catholic worship. Remember the Baltimore Catechism definition? “A sacrament is an outward sign, instituted by Christ, to give grace.” Following our Soup Supper, on each Lenten Monday, we have asked a guest priest celebrant/ homilist to join us for the 7:00pm Mass. Each evening, there will be a consideration of a Sacrament:

Monday, March 9 Father Kevin Klonowski on Baptism/Confirmation

Monday, March 16 Father Matt Cortnick on Reconciliation

Monday, March 23 Father Terry Grachanin on Marriage

Monday, March 30 Father Jim Cosgrove on Holy Orders

Monday, April 6 Father Jacob Bearer on Anointing of the Sick

Brian Pelcin will offer an adult faith formation “Presence: Mystery of the Eucharist” on Tuesday mornings, 9:30 to 10:45am, beginning March 3 and on Wednesday evening, 7:00 -8:15pm, beginning March 4, in the Upper Room of the Parish Activities Center.

Parish Council will meet this Thursday, February 13, at 7:45pm in the John Paul II Room of the Parish Activities Center. Parishioners, leave your comments or questions for Council in the Suggestion Box, Wilber Avenue (Safety Forces) Lobby of church.

    Happy St Valentine’s Day

Merici Chapel…Going through our daily routine, we don’t miss someone or something until we no longer have that person, or thing. During these dreary days of winter without the sun shining, our mood can change with a sunny day or two.

We are blessed to have Perpetual Adoration, 24/7 in Merici Chapel. Take advantage of this awesome privilege while you can and visit Jesus once a week. You’ll feel His warmth in your heart — just give it a try.

    PRE CANA DAY

Experience Church History from a Catholic Perspective!

As Catholics, we are heirs to a remarkable heritage. The history of our Faith is so much more than a list of facts and dates. It is a fascinating story of adventure, rebellion, tragedy, and triumph. A story 2,000 years in the making, one word best describes Catholic history: Epic.

Epic: A Journey through Church History is a captivating and fast-paced look at the story of the Catholic Church. Beginning with the lives of the apostles all the way up to the present day, Epic takes the immense history of the Church and simplifies it into twelve, color-coded time periods. Learn about the major people, places, and events that comprise the captivating story of Christianity. This Study provides participants with an under-standing of Church history that enables them to have a greater sense of meaning and identity as Catholics.

Along with Fr. Carlin, join us for the Epic: A Journey through Church History, Semester Two. Even if you did not attend the First Semester, you are welcome to attend the Second. Each lesson is self-contained and does not depend on what went before. To register for the study, stop in the Parish Office or call (440)884-3030.
