Turning your Idea
into a Business
Solution
Information about the
International Business
Solution Project in
Business Information
Systems
Supported by Baden-Württemberg Stiftung with
„Fellowship for Innovations in University
Teaching“
In their lectures and seminars students acquire knowledge and
skills which are subsequently applied and tested under labora-
tory conditions. However, no laboratory will ever be as good as
real-life experience.
Learning by Doing
The aim of the International Business Solution Project is to
challenge an international team of students with real-life prob-
lems of international customers. As customer you offer the idea
for a business solution which is implemented by a team of stu-
dents within a period of approx. 12 weeks.
The task of each individual student is to work as part of the
team and to develop an optimal, target-oriented solution to the
given problem. In order to achieve the best business solution,
the students are accompanied and supported by a team of pro-
fessors and experts.
Fellowship
The International Business Solution Project by Professor
Heberle was awarded as one of fifteen “fellowships for innovati-
ons in university teaching” by the Baden-Württemberg Stiftung,
the Joachim Herz Stiftung and the Stifterverband für die Deut-
sche Wissenschaft.
If you have an idea for a topic for an international project please
contact us and we can work together on developing a solution.
Since our students have a wide range of methodical and formal
knowledge from the area of Computer Science as well as Busi-
ness Information Systems, the range of possible projects and
business solutions is broad.
Your Idea can inspire
At the beginning of each semester, the different topics provided
by international customers from companies of different sizes
and from a variety of industry sectors are presented to our stu-
dents. The students apply for their favorite project dependant
on the numbers of applications, the students are grouped into
teams which start defining the project plan with you.
Two important milestones of each project are
A presentation at the beginning of the project where the
students demonstrate that they have understood your
requirements and have developed an appropriate offer
A presentation at the end of each project showing the
results, i.e., the implemented business solution
International Business Solution Project
The student teams invest a lot of time and energy to success-
fully implement your project.
You can direct this energy by providing an appropriate
contact person for the student team who is available for regu-
lar meetings and can offer advice as the students develop an
optimal, target-oriented solution to the given problem.
You design the Project
We provide the infrastructure, also for remote meetings, and
you can arrange with the student team how often you meet.
Usually, our students prefer a flexible procedure which requi-
res meeting every 2-3 weeks.
Important Deadlines
In order to plan the projects for each semester, it is important
that we have your ideas in time. The closing date for project
proposals is the end of January for the summer semester and
at the end of July for the winter semester.
The Kickoff meeting and the project start are in the first week
of each term, i.e. in the middle of March and/or at the begin-
ning of October.
