Backyard Composting!Every gardener should have a compost pile. Compost returns all of the nutrients to your soil that plants remove as they grow. Spring is an ideal time to begin making compost as everyone is thinking about their yards and gardens and there are usually a variety of free classes and materials available.

The City of Rialto sells compost bins at cost and offers FREE instructions and printed materials to anyone interested in learning how to make this nutrient-rich soil amendment. A properly-managed compost pile DOES NOT SMELL BAD!! The materials should smell like fresh earth and a bin can be really easy to care for. It only takes about 15 minutes a week. Special CollectionThe mission of Dress for Success is to promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.

Founded in New York City in 1997, Dress for Success is an international not-for-profit organization offering services designed to help our clients find jobs and remain employed. Each Dress for Success client receives one suit when she has a job interview and can return for a second suit or separates when she finds work.

Since 1997, Dress for Success has served more than 700,000 women around the world.

This July the City of Rialto Waste Management Division will be collecting new or nearly new and cleaned suits and other professional apparel that will be donated to Dress For Success.

2017 Rialto Community Clean-Up Day ScheduleApril 29, 2017 • July 15, 2017 • October 28, 2017

All Community Clean-Up days are from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.Please note that free dumping at the landfill will no longer be a part of our Community Clean-Up Day events.

Regular landfill fees will apply at all times.• Shred Fest - Protect your identity. Shred your personal documents for free. Bring your papers to the south parking lot of City Hall (across the

street from the Post Office).• Household Hazardous Waste - Our Household Hazardous Waste Site, 246 S. Willow, will accept your used motor oil and filters, paint,

household cleaners, pesticides, weed killers, batteries, syringes, fluorescent bulbs, medications and other household chemicals. We can not accept explosives, medical waste, abandoned waste, or business waste. This site is free to all residents of San Bernardino County.

• Used Tires - Rialto City residents can bring up to 9 used tires to the Public Works Office at 335 W. Rialto Ave on Community Clean-Up days free of charge. We will not accept tires from businesses, including semi-trucks.

• Electronic Waste - Bring your televisions, microwaves, computers and monitors, and other electronics to the south parking lot of City Hall to be recycled.

• Usable Items - The Salvation Army will be accepting usable household items (such as clean clothing, shoes, furniture, sports equipment, etc.) also in the south parking lot of City Hall.

When the holiday falls on a weekday, collections for the remainder of the week will be delayed by one day. There is no service interruption or delay when the holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday.

June 9, 10, 23, 24

8 am to 12 noon

We accept paint, pool chemicals, used motor oil and filters, household cleaners, fertilizers, old medications, pesticides, fluorescent lights, syringes, and batteries. We can not accept business waste, explosives, or medical waste.

We provide free containers for sharps collection, containers for used oil, and oil filter buckets. Just ask at the site.
