racing news for buddy's blizzard #2

Memorial Weekend Off To Fast Start P ensacola has seen its share of storms already this year. We are still thinking of and praying for all the people who sustained major damage from the flood a few weeks ago, especially those who lost everything. T onight right we will have another storm, but let me put all your fear to rest. We are having a Blizzard… but it will be confined to the track as the Buddy’s Home Furnishings Super Late Models return for 125 laps. It will be the second of four Blizzard series races on the 2014 schedule. Last time the Super Late Models were here you could not have asked for a more competi- tive race. We started 27 cars and the race was fierce throughout the field, whether they were racing for first, tenth, fifteenth, or last. We expect the same tonight from some of the best Super Late Model drivers, such as Bubba Pollard, Donnie Wilson, Daniel Hemric, Anderson Bowen, David Rogers and a host of others. A lso on the card tonight will be the Open Wheel Modifieds, Sportsman and Bomb- ers. Don’t think the racing will be weaker in any of these classes either. You can always count on these three classes to deliver a lot of excitement for our great fans. Speaking of our great fans, let me remind you that all of the Super Late Model races will be double headers with Mobile International Speed- way, and they will be Southern Super Series races as well, so if by some reason you can’t make it to Five Flags on Friday, you can always drive over to Mobile on Saturday and watch the same drivers go anoth- er 125 laps. T he month of June is loaded with excitement with the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East, Vintage Cars, Kids Bike races and more. Make sure you visit our website, snowballderby.com, or watch “In The Groove” with Steve and Tim every other Monday at 6:00 pm on BLAB/TV. Here June 13th Hemric, Bowen, Wilson, Rogers

Memorial Weekend Off To Fast Start Pensacola has seen

its share of storms already this year. We are still thinking of and praying for all the people who sustained major damage from the flood a few weeks ago, especially those who lost everything.

Tonight right we will have another storm,

but let me put all your fear to rest. We are having a Blizzard… but it will be confined to the track as the Buddy’s Home Furnishings Super Late Models return for 125 laps. It will be the second of four Blizzard series races on the 2014 schedule. Last time the Super Late Models were here you could not have asked for a more competi-tive race.

Also on the card tonight will be the

Open Wheel Modifieds, Sportsman and Bomb-ers. Don’t think the racing will be weaker in any of these classes either. You can always count on these three classes to deliver a lot of excitement for our great fans. Speaking of our great fans, let me remind you that all of the Super Late Model races will be double headers with Mobile International Speed-way, and they will be Southern Super Series races as well, so if by some reason you can’t make it to Five Flags on Friday, you can always drive over to Mobile on Saturday and watch the same drivers go anoth-er 125 laps.

The month of June is loaded with

excitement with the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East, Vintage Cars, Kids Bike races and more. Make sure you visit our website, snowballderby.com, or watch “In The Groove” with Steve and Tim every other Monday at 6:00 pm on BLAB/TV.

Streaks are made to be broken.Just don’t tell that to Bubba Pollard, Brannon Fowler or Hunter Ward. Those three drivers have won back-to-back features in their respective divisions and hope that trend continues tonight at Five Flags Speedway.

Pollard’s greatness at the famed half-mile asphalt oval cannot be under-stated. Dating back to September 2013, the Senoia, Ga., driver has won the last two Buddy’s Home Furnish-ings Blizzard Series races and sat on five consecutive Blizzard poles.

He hopes for more of the same as the Super Late Models return tonight for the Rubber and Specialties 125, the second Blizzard feature of 2014 and the fifth of 16 races run in conjunc-tion with the Southern Super Series, which travels to landmark tracks across the southeast.

This season, Pollard has been virtu-ally unbeatable. He carries a four-race winning streak into tonight and has swiped checkered flags in seven of his last nine races.

Select Trio Seek Racing Hat Trick

“We really enjoy coming down here,” Pollard said of Pensacola’s high banks.

“The track suits my driving style and how I like to race. You have to be smart with an emphasis on tire management. The key to the place is having a good line and hitting your marks every lap.”

It has been a recurring theme for the local divisions that run at Five Flags. Fowler has won three out of four Beef “O” Brady’s Sportsman features this year holds a healthy lead heading into tonight’s 25-lap feature.

Ward, too, has been a model of consistency, posting back-to-back victories this season for the first time in his young career. He assumed the points lead following his first win last month and padded that margin with

heads-up driving last time out May 9.
