ABOUT COURSES
This program is designed to prepare students to move directly into the energy workforce with a broad, hands-on education approach. Students will be exposed to various alternative energy technologies, with a concentration on solar electric systems (solar panels), energy storage (battery systems) and residential energy auditing & efficiency improvement (building energy efficiency). The curriculum is reviewed by energy professionals and prepares students with the skills needed in today’s job market.
Courses are designed to equip students with:
• Soft skills, such as critical thinking, effective communication, negotiation and awareness of current trends in energy policies and management.
• Technical skills in target technologies such as solar electric, energy storage, energy data collection and building energy efficiency analysis.
• Management skills such as PMP (Project Management Professional) aptitudes and OSHA safety regulations.
Additionally, students will develop job awareness skills through, for example, cooperative education, job shadowing and company research.
