Then I was in class 11 and the day was

15th august. I was anchoring the cultural

program. Being the anchor I had to stay till

the end as I was the one to conclude the

program. At last, as expected there were

hardly anybody left to hear my “thank you”.

It was definitely not their fault as the sun

forced them to leave the ground ASAP.

After the program was over I went to the

class to get changed. Then I moved to the

canteen to collect my tiffin packet. As I

reached there I saw my teacher (my english

ma'am who is the vice principal of our

school and was in charge of conducting all

cultural programs) shouting at the keeper

and then came to know that someone else

had taken my packet. The first thing that

came to my mind was to curse that uncle

but then I saw he was already crying and

begging forgiveness from ma’am. So I

cooled down and said, “it's okay ma’am, I'm

not so hungry.” (She, looking at me with red

eyes, asked)

"did I ask you?”

“No ma'am.”

“How will you go home ?”, this one was

asked kindly.

“Ma'am by walking.”

“Go get into my car.”

Now this I didn't expect and stood there

thinking whether I heard her right. She

again,

“what happened? Don't just stand there. Go

my driver's already there. Go.

I went near the car but couldn't dare to

open the door. She came and did it for me.

I was sitting inside an innova crystal with

my favorite but the strictest teacher of the

school sitting beside me. She broke the

silence by saying,

“Well done, proud of you "

“thank you ma'am”

I was scared, happy, nervous and most

importantly hungry. I didn't know where we

were going. Then the car stopped and she

asked me to get down. I saw we were

standing near KFC. I again couldn't

understand anything and followed her like A

loyal dog. We went inside and she asked

me to order something according to my

wish. I was dumb as it was the first time I

went to “KFC" and I didn't know anything

about the dishes. I couldn't understand

what to order. She probably guessed that

and ordered herself. We ate together and it

was A lovely experience. Then she asked,

“Do you want to celebrate independence

day with me?”

“Yes ma'am.” I replied without thinking.

“Do you have to reach home early?”

“No ma’am, nothing like that.”

“Wait let me ask your mother.”

I forgot that she had mom's number. They

talked for A while and then again asked me

to get into the car. Now this time I definitely

had no clue of what was going on. The car

drove through many places and finally

stopped at A huge building. The sign board

there said that it was an orphanage. As

soon as we reached there, about 20 kids

came running and circled themselves

around ma’am. And first time I saw her

laughing like A baby. She hugged them all

and went to the boot of the car and asked

for help. I and ‘driver bhaiya’ joined her. The

whole boot was full of chocolates and gifts.

We distributed them to all the children and

their smile and happiness told me that that

was the best thing I've ever done in my life.

I suddenly felt that I was the luckiest person

in the world to be able to be A part of their

celebration of joy. We played A lot. And

gossiped even more. Ma'am narrated her

awesome stories of life time experiences.

SHORT STORY

Page 3

Page 6: RCMCKVIE’S ABHILASH

The children were of different sizes—some

were so little that they could hardly speak

clearly and some were so tall and grown up

that they were sharing their future plans of

settlement. I was in another world. The

world which has no regrets, no complaints,

no worries, free from corruption, free from

pollution, free from manipulation. I

completely lost the track of time when

ma'am called me to get into the car. When I

reached home it was 7 pm. I was warmly

welcomed by my mother with A cane stick

as I missed my 2 important tuitions. But

whatever, that scolding, beating was

nothing in comparison to the happy

moments I shared with my teacher -“my

most favorite teacher“

~Rtr. Shruti Singh

RCMCKVIE

Teachers are an integral and a vital part of

every student’s life. They are like our

second parents. Throughout the educational

career of any student, each student has got

certain memories with their teachers may it

be happy, sad or A funny one thinking of

which we get nostalgic and happy. Here I'm

gonna express one of my memory with one

of my junior high school teacher that has

changed my life to the greatest extent till

now. Most people know me as A guy who

talks A lot and does great plays and various

on stages performances. However, between

the ages of 7 and 14, I developed A

crippling stutter that had me struggling to

even hold A simple conversation. I was A

smart kid and always had A lot to say, but I

just couldn’t say it. I never thought I'd be

able to sit and talk to someone. I rarely had

friends and my classmates used to bullied

me because of my problem to stutter.

For me, it was one junior high teacher in

particular that helped me overcome my fear

of speaking by encouraging me to try out for

the school play. At first, I resisted the idea,

but the teacher wouldn’t give up on me and

coaxed me to take acting lessons and

experiment with different accents and

character voices to help express myself.

And it was because of her, I started doing

numerous plays and on stages

performances and slowly, slowly my

crippling stuttering disappeared like A

vanish. And now I am able to express

myself to everyone without any hesitation

and had made numerous friends and

colleagues. Above all I was eluded out of

any bullies from there onwards. In the end,

those efforts made by her to me paid off

immensely. This is one of the memory that I

would cherish throughout my life and will

always be thankful to her.

Ms R Paul ma’am, a very strict person,

everyone in the class was fightened to

even ask a doubt from her wherin I used to

take out time after class to just chat. My

interest in the subject increased as she

started teaching. Then a year passed and

we were promoted to high school and our

teachers changed and I always used to

long to meet her but that didn’t happen. On

children’s day it was a tradition in our

school that the teachers would set up

performances for the students. Everyone

was a crazy fan of her acting. While going

to assembly everyone, especially me, was

waiting to see her and her performance.

The show started with some music and

dance performance was stopped in

between when the principal came in and

announced that Ms R Paul ma’am cannot

come to school as she had a bike accident.

Page 4

Page 7: RCMCKVIE’S ABHILASH

Her husband had a major leg injury, her 1

year old daughter is safe but she herself has

left all of us. All our heart stopped for a

second and to accept this fact was very

difficult for all of us. I so wished that I should

have gone to her to meet at least for once.

She’ll always be my favorite teacher.

“On this auspicious day of teacher’s day

and on every day of my life. I hope

she is happy wherever she is.”
