A large natural pond at a private dwelling was no longer holding water due ground seepage. RDL was contracted in to supply and install pond liners. The project involved fabricating the liner together to join the two sheets on either side of the tunnel under the single track road bridge.

The existing natural pond lost water to ground seepage and was no longer being maintained.

The garden pond once flowed on either side of the bridge. The owners wanted to return it to its former glory. They contacted RDL to help achieve their goal.

A trench was dug around the perimeter of the pond to secure the liners in place. The Geotextile Protective Underlay was installed to protect the EPDM pond liner from damage.

Railway sleepers were put in place around the edge of the pond to secure the underlay in place.

The EPDM pond liner is laid out across the full diameter of the pond. A second sheet was laid out over the pond on the other side of the bridge. The two liners were fabricated together on site joined together by a strip of EPDM to line the section of pond that runs under the bridge.

Installing the EPDM 1mm pond liner

A pond liner welding machine was bought on site to hot press the EPDM

sheets together.

Lengths of cut EPDM pond liner are fabricated together using hot bond tape and then hot

welding the two sheets together.
