Prayers for the Sick Please call or email the Parish Office to add a name to the
prayers for the sick list. Parishioner names are read at
Mass and appear in the bulletin weekly. Friends and family
names are read at Mass for two weeks and will appear in
the bulletin for one month. After one month they will be

Mass Intentions Every Mass that is said has a specific intention. The most fre-
quent intention is for the soul of someone who is deceased.
The intentions can also be for anniversaries, in thanksgiving for
something, or for a personal intention (the intention does not
get named). With the exception of one Mass per weekend, for
the parishioners of the parish, and Memorial Day, St. Joseph’s
Feast Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and the Easter Vigil,
each Mass intention has been specifically requested by some-
one for someone or something. You may have seen “Mass
cards” at the funeral of a Catholic who has passed away so
that those who are mourning may request a Mass intention for
their loved one or friend. There is no “fee” for a Mass intention
but normally a donation of $10 is given. These donations go
into the general fund to help with operation of the parish. If
you are interested in scheduling a Mass intention all you need
to do is call the Parish Office and we will take care of you. A
card will be sent to the family of the deceased person to let
them know that a Mass has been scheduled. Currently
we are scheduling Masses for 2018.

The NRN trip was an experience that took me by
surprise. The heat was something I never expected
and I never knew it could get as hot as it did out-
side of a desert. Besides the heat and the fountain
of sweat dripping off my body, I learned so much in so little time and
met a lot of new people. It was so rewarding helping people who
truly needed it... after they had been through an unthinkable disas-
ter, we came in to help and we made a difference, which is why it
(NRN) is all worth it. Nathan Deleruyelle
I can confidently say that this trip was one of
the best weeks of my life. I made so many
new friends and I hope to be able to return for
many years to come. Thank you so much to
everyone who contributed for making this trip
possible. Your assistance did not go unnoticed!
Lauren Boydston I really believe this year was a year that stood
out amongst others. The work load and the
heat was an obstacle on its own, but accom-
panying that with a substantially smaller
group than previous was what made the task
both taxing and exciting. Awesome job!

countering the Lord, perhaps you could encourage them
to consider the Catholic way of life.

so! This is a great way to get involved as a youth

group. It is also a good opportunity if you’ve wanted to
help our organization aid moms and babies in our
community but can’t commit to volunteering weekly.

Food Gatherers' Warehouse Volunteer with other parish members
Saturday, August 19 from 2 to 4pm. This is our yearly
Saturday service date!
Food Gatherers is a food rescue and redis-
tribution organization serving the hungry in
Washtenaw County. Their warehouse is the
central hub where donated food is sorted,
stored, repackaged and then delivered to
organizations feeding those in need. The
vast majority of the work is done by volunteers.
Our parish members have never had the same task on
consecutive visits to the warehouse. During recent visits
we have packaged boxes of food for families. Most re-
cently, we worked with fresh produce while the visit prior
involved canned and boxed goods. We'd love to have
your help and company on our next visit! This is a great
project for kids 8 and older. To volunteer and/or get
more information, please contact me: Karin Burns 734-
253-2052, [email protected].

K of C Corner What a great St. Joseph Summer Fun Festival.
More than 2,000 guests and visitors visited
our Festival on Saturday and Sunday. An event of this
magnitude requires months of planning, preparation,
and execution, which was coordinated by Festival Co-
Chairs Jeff Littleton and Ty Clark. For their outstanding
efforts the Dexter K of C awarded “Knight of the Month”
to these well deserving Brother Knights. During the past
39 years most, if not all, Festival Chairs have been filled
by Knights from Council 2959. “True leadership, is
found in giving yourself in service to others, not in coax-
ing or inducing others to serve you. Leaders are not
elected, appointed, or created by the church. God alone
makes them.” (Paraphrased from J. Oswald Sanders).
Thank you Ty and Jeff for your leadership, participation
and hard work for a successful 2017 Summer Fun Festi-
val. Vivat Jesus!
