SUZUKI

#2A08

MODEL:2005 AND 2006 GSX-R1000 MOTORCYCLESTITLE:Frame Reinforcement Brace Installation/Frame

SubjectSuzuki has received reports of cracking or breakage of the motorcycle frame in certain extreme situations where unusually high stress is placed on the frame, such as collisions involving the front wheel/fork assembly.

Suzuki has also received reports of cracking or breakage of the frame behind and below the steering neck when the motorcycle is subjected to repeated hard landings from hazardous maneuvers such as extreme or extended wheelies or other stunts. Suzuki believes that this type of driving activity is reckless - and illegal when performed on a public roadway - and does not condone it. If the frame becomes broken during this type of extreme use, a crash could occur.

Initiate Campaign: Dealers will inspect the relevant area of the frame for cracks. If no cracks are found, a frame reinforcement brace will be attached to the frame using bolts and epoxy adhesive. The brace is aluminum and very lightweight (less than 2 pounds). It is very slender and fits underneath the top spar of the frame behind and below the steering neck. The appearance, performance and handling of the motorcycle remain unchanged with the reinforcement brace installed. Should cracks be found during the inspection, the frame will be replaced with a new frame that has the reinforcement brace installed.

MODEL:2014-2011 GSXR750, 2014-2009 GSXR1000TITLE:Drive Chain Adjuster

SubjectOn affected vehicles, just the motorcycle rider does not upshift the transmission correctly, a missed shift can occur, resulting in a neutral condition and a high engine speed. If the rider tries to recover from the shift by and shifting without disengaging the clutch, a very large torque is applied to the drive sprocket. This will cause the upper part of the drive chain to immediately experience very high tension, which can result in the left side of the rear axle shaft moving forward and damaging the left side drive chain adjuster, which may result in the chain derailing from the sprocket. If the drive chain comes off the sprockets while the motorcycle is being operated, engine power will not be transmitted to the rear wheel. This may result in loss of control the motorcycle, and can increase the risk of a crash.Initiate Campaign:install a replacement chain adjuster and the replacement axle nut.

MODEL:2003-2008 GP1300R, 2005-2008 VX1100TITLE:Throttle Cable CorrosionSubjectThere is a possibility that the outer throttle cable could corrode and become cracked or kinked. If the outer cable is damaged in this way it could result in the inner cable to wear improperly resulting in improper throttle movement. This could result in an accident or personal injury to the operator and/or passenger.

Initiate Campaign:To correct this defect, Yamaha is initiating a Factory Modification Campaign. Affected watercraft must have the throttle cable replaced with one of the new material

M2009-002R

MODEL:2006-2008 and Certain 2009 FJR1300A/AETITLE:Main SwitchSubjectThe main ignition switchs wire connection could overheat due to electrical resistance, becoming hot enough to melt the solder connecting the wire to the main switch. The wire could come off the switch if the solder melts, preventing the electrical system from functioning, If this occurs while the motorcycle is being ridden, the engine would stall and be impossible to restart which could result in an accident with injury or death.

Initiate Campaign:To correct this defect, Yamaha is initiating a Factory Modification Campaign. Affected motorcycles must have the main switch replaced with a new one designed to prevent overheating.

This campaign will replace the original aluminum steering column support with a steal one that has increased strength.

M2010-010R

MODEL:2009 VMX17Y/YCTITLE:APS/TPS WiringSubjectIn affected motorcycles, there could be excessive electrical resistance in the ground wire for the accelerator position sensor (APS) and the throttle position sensor (TPS) due to insufficient crimped connections. This excessive resistance can cause incorrect signal to be sent to the engine control unit (ECU) which could lead to unstable engine idle speed and or keep the idle speed from falling below 3000 RPM when the throttle is released which could cause loss of control and result in injury or death. Initiate Campaign:Yamaha is initiating a factory modification campaign. Affected motorcycles will have an additional sub-lead wire installed that bypasses the problem area which prevents the excessive resistance

M2011

MODEL:2011 FJR13AAS/AASCTITLE:Front Brake SwitchSubjectIn affected motorcycles, the brake light may not aluminum eight when the front brake lever is applied because the activating mechanism in the front brake switch can bind. Initiate Campaign:To correct this defect, Yamaha is initiating a Factory Modification Campaign. Affected units must have a new front shock absorbers assembly installed.

M2013-008R

MODEL:2014 XVS95CTITLE:Wire Harness Routing SubjectIn affected units, there is the possibility that the wiring harness is routed to close to the rear exhaust area allowing the wiring harness to contact the rear exhaust. If this happens, heat from the exhaust could damage the wiring harness which could result in engine stalling and the possibility of a crash with injury or death.

Initiate Campaign:To correct this defect, Yamaha is initiating a Factory Modification Campaign. Affected units must have two retaining bands installed to hold the wiring harness away from the rear exhaust area.

M2013-

MODEL:2014 XVS95CTITLE:Wire Harness Routing SubjectIn affected units, due to improper adhesion of the brake shoe lining, the lining may separate from the brake shoe. If this happens, the brake performance becomes reduced which could result in the possibility of a crash with injury or death.

M2015

MODEL:2015 FZ07TITLE:Battery Cable SubjectIn affected units the positive battery cable could be pinched between the seat base and the seat bracket due to an appropriate length of the battery cable. If this happens the positive cable may be chafed over time resulting in a short possibly resulting in a fire. Which could result in the possibility of a crash with injury or death.

Initiate Campaign:To correct this defect, Yamaha is initiating a Factory Modification Campaign. Affected units must have the positive battery cable and seat bracket replaced with new ones of a different design.

M2014-017R

MODEL:2014 YZFR6TITLE:Aluminum Wheel Hardness

SubjectIn affected units, the middle in the front and rear wheels does not meet required hardness specifications due to a manufacturing error. Therefore the wheel bearing could move from its original position, allowing the wheel to loosen, and also wheel deformation could allow air to leak past the tire. This could result in a possibility of a crash with injury or death.

Initiate Campaign:To correct this defect, Yamaha is initiating a Factory Modification Campaign. Affected units will have the wheel assembly replaced.

M2015

MODEL:2015 YZ250FTITLE:Gear and Balancer Shafts SubjectIn affected units the engines balancer weight gear and balancer shaft gear were made of materials that did not meet specifications. This could result in a possibility of a crash with injury or death.Initiate Campaign:To correct this defect, Yamaha is initiating a Factory Modification Campaign. Affected units will have the gear and balancer shafts replaced.

M2015-001

MODEL:2013-2015 XT250TITLE:GAIS Pipe and Hose Failure SubjectIn affected units the air induction system hose can melt after prolonged periods of high rpm operation because it was not manufactured with the proper temperature resistance. If the air induction hose fails, hot exhaust gases leak from the hose could then meld the fuel injection sub-wiring harness insulation, causing the wiring to short. If this happens the fuel injection system could malfunction, which could result in a possibility of a crash with injury or death.Initiate Campaign:To correct this defect, Yamaha is initiating a Factory Modification Campaign. Affected units will have the hose replaced.

M2015
