  • Graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate—the ingredients in a classic s’more— scream summertime. And they can be used in many ways beyond the traditional campfire sandwich to create delicious treats that the whole family will enjoy.

    This recipe draws inspiration from rice crispy treats, combining butter, marshmallows, and graham crackers in place of rice cereal to create a bar base. Once formed and cooled, the crunchy bars get covered with a generous chocolate coating.

    From there, get creative with different toppings. Some of our favorites include freeze-dried strawberries, sliced almonds, popcorn, and sprinkles.

    2 tablespoons butter

    4 cups marshmallows

    27 (3 sleeves) graham crackers

    Four 1.45-ounce dark or milk chocolate bars

    1 tablespoon coconut oil

    Cooking spray, for coating

    ¼ cup freeze dried strawberries

    ¼ cup almonds, sliced

    ½ cup air-popped buttered popcorn

    2 tablespoons rainbow sprinkles

    In a large saucepan over low heat, melt butter. Add marshmallows to butter and stir until melted together. Remove pan from heat.

    Place graham crackers in a gallon-size plastic bag. Using the back of a wooden spoon, break the graham crackers into ¼- to ½-inch pieces.

    Pour graham cracker pieces into the melted butter and marshmallow mixture. Stir together until the graham cracker chunks are completed coated.

    As the graham cracker mixture cools, melt your chocolate. Fill a medium pot a little less than halfway with water and bring to a simmer.

    Keep the pot over low heat and stir chocolate sauce until it’s silky smooth, about 8 to 10 minutes.

    Once the graham cracker mixture is cool and the chocolate is melted, cut the graham cracker mixture into 2-inch bars. Dip the bars into the chocolate or drizzle the chocolate over the top.

    If you’d like, divide bars into four batches, and sprinkle one with freeze-dried strawberries, the second with sliced almonds, the third with popcorn, and the last one with sprinkles.

    Place a heat-proof glass bowl on top of the pot and add chocolate bars and coconut oil.

    Coat a 13-by-9 baking pan with cooking spray. Using a buttered spatula or wax paper, transfer the graham cracker mixture to the pan and press the mixture evenly into the pan. Let cool.
