UWA torpedoes and Comets national Water Polo league 2010 With the National League season due to begin in early February the two UWA teams are taking quite different approaches. The Comets, with a very young team have most of their players committed to the National 18 and Under Championships that soon begin in Perth and finish just before the NL season begins.
Comets will be coached again by Tibor Seress and will boast two import players for season 2010, with star goalie Carina Harache returning from New Zealand to play on the eastern states road trips in Sydney and Brisbane. Georgina Kovacs has come (pictured on arrival) from Hungary as an experienced player to play with the youngsters and will prove a great mentor for them. The team’s youth is sure to present many challenges for the players and coaching staff alike.
Torpedoes are being coached by Andrei Kovalenko (Kova) for the first time and he has spent many months preparing his young squad. The “Torps” will be boosted by the arrival of two imports - American goalie Jimmy Sandman and Hungarian strongman Zsolt Kistamas.
