Monday (Theme: “Team Up Against Drugs!”/Decoration Day) • Students and staff may wear their favorite team jersey or team colors. • Theme will be presented during morning announcements. Morning announcements will also include
the history of Red Ribbon Week. • Leadership team will spell drug free messages on the fence with cups. Also, Leadership Team will put
ribbons on trees and fences. • All classes will make an “Our Message Is: There Are Better Things To Do Than Drugs!” banner out
of butcher paper. Students will add pictures of activities they can participate in such as sports, dance, family time, etc. The banner will hang in the hall.
• All students will receive a red “Send A Message. Stay Drug Free.™” ribbon.
Tuesday (Theme: Reach Out Day) • Morning announcements will be given about this year’s theme. • Morning announcements will also include the history of Red Ribbon Week. • Teachers will check www.redribbon.org/curriculum for classroom ideas to use in all subject areas. • All students will receive a “Good Character, Good Choices” theme bracelet.
Wednesday (Theme: “RED-y To Live A Bully/Drug Free Life!”/Wear Red Day) • Morning announcements will be given about this year’s theme. • Morning announcements will include the history of Red Ribbon Week. • Students and staff may wear red from head to toe. • Teachers will take a picture of their class wearing red and the student wearing the most red. That
student will be sent to the counselors and receive a reward. • The three classes with the most red will have an ice cream sandwich party. • Jars containing red items will be placed in the hall outside the office for students to guess the number
of items in each jar to win the jar and its contents. • During gym time, Alliance for Children will present NetSmartz (Internet Safety) to grades 1, 3, and 5.
Thursday (Theme: Pledge Day) • Morning announcements will be given about this year’s theme. • Morning announcements will include the history of Red Ribbon Week. • Each grade-level will make a team “We Pledge To Be Drug Free!” banner out of butcher paper and
students will sign it. • Each student will receive a Drug Free/Bully Free “theme sticker.” • Alliance for Children will present NetSmartz (Internet Safety) to grades 1, 3, and 5. • Haltom High School’s High On Life group will perform a short program on being drug free for grades
K–2 at 9:20 a.m. and 3−5 at 2:05 p.m. in the cafeteria.
Friday (Theme: “Show Your Binion Spirit!”) • Wear any Binion shirt or maroon and white. • Morning announcements will be given about this year’s theme. • Morning announcements will also include the history of Red Ribbon Week. • The 5th grade classes will get an anti-smoking lesson from the counselors at 2:05 p.m.

Pre-Red Ribbon Week Activities: • The entire month of October, 2nd and 3rd graders will learn and practice peer pressure reversal skills.
These lessons will be provided by the theater arts teacher. • The visual arts teacher will have grade-level projects related to the theme:
♦ K–1st grade will create red paper socks; ♦ 2nd/3rd grades will create red collages; ♦ 4th/5th grades will create radial rainbow color wheels with various adjectives that relate to a drug-
free life incorporated in the design. • Students will make a video about how to say “No”. • Leadership students will decorate the school with red ribbons and make posters about not doing drugs.
These posters will be displayed around the school. • The librarian will set up a special display in the library dedicated to drug-free messages, including
books and magazines about healthy choices.

Stay Drug Free.™” ribbon. • CORE Connection Leaders will hang signs throughout the school. • Each class will be given a big red ribbon to tie around a tree in the front and on the playground side of
the school.
Tuesday (Theme: “Feeling Drug Free!”) • All scholars and staff are encouraged to dress as their favorite emoji. • Information will be shared on the announcements about Red Ribbon Week. • There will be drawings for those who are wearing their red ribbons. • “I Tune Out Drugs Because …” writing cards will be completed by all scholars and displayed in the
halls.
Wednesday (Theme: National Wear Red Day and Bullying Prevention) • All scholars and staff are encouraged to dress in red from head to toe. • There will be a contest for the class that dresses in the MOST red. • Information will be shared on the announcements about EMPATHY. • The pledge will be read over the announcements and each scholar will have the opportunity to sign the
red handprint for display in the front hall. • NRH Police Officers will greet the scholars at the front and side entrances, as well as make an
appearance on the announcements with a message. • Drawings continue for those that are wearing their red ribbons.
Thursday (Theme: “Picture A Drug-Free Life!”) • All scholars may dress for their future career. • PTA volunteers will take pictures of each class in the photo booth as they are leaving the cafeteria. • Information will be shared on the announcements about a DRUG-FREE LIFE. • There will be a Red Ribbon Week drawing for those wearing their red ribbons.
Friday (Theme: “Our School Has Strong Character, School Spirit, and Stays Drug Free!”) • All scholars and staff are encouraged to dress in their CORE Kids T-shirts or spirit wear. • Information will be shared on the announcements about Red Ribbon Week. • A final drawing will be held for those wearing their red ribbons. • We will continue the school spirit contest and have red ribbons added to the spirit stick.

Thursday (Theme: Pledge Day) • The Red Ribbon Pledge will be read during morning announcements and recited by students. • Each student will make a postcard and write and sign a pledge to stay drug free. These postcards will
be displayed in the hallways in a clever way that relates to the “Send A Message. Stay Drug Free.™” theme.
Friday (Theme: Recognition Day/“Twist And Shout, Drugs Are Out!”) • Students will participate in the annual “Twist And Shout, Drugs Are Out!” and dress in 1950s attire. • Students Drug Free Learning will be presented on morning announcements and an Anti-Drug Free Fun

• Students will be made aware of the Red Ribbon Photo Contest @ www.redribbon.org for a chance to win an iPad or $1,000 for the school.
• Wall of Pledges poster will be put up in the cafeteria for students to sign during lunches. Pledge certificates will be available for those that want one.
Wednesday (Theme: College Shirt Day/Wear Your Favorite College T-shirt) • Morning announcements will include The Six Prevention Strategies from the Center for Substance
Abuse Prevention. (CSAP): Information Dissemination, Prevention Education, Alternate Activities, Community-Based Process (encouragement to change unhealthy behaviors), Environmental Approaches, and Problem Identification and Referral.
• Mentor Class: “Natural High” and “Anti-Vaping” videos will be shown during second period. The Door Decoration Contest with the theme “One Message – To Be Drug Free!” will begin and they will be judged by a representative.

Thursday (Theme: Western Day/“Stomp Out Drugs!”/Wear Western Clothes) • Morning announcements will include “The Risks of Vaping” and statistics of health problems related
to Vaping. • The Door Decorating Contest winner will be announced and the winners will have a Pizza Party. • WMS Tweet of the Day: Take the Pledge: wwwredribbon.org/pledge! #SendAMessageStayDrugFree. • Western Day – “Stomp Out Drugs!” – Students and staff may wear their western clothes.

Monday (Theme: “Red-Y To Quit The Nic!”) • Red Ribbons with the theme “Send A Message. Stay Drug Free.™” will be distributed to students and
staff. • Students and staff may wear red. • Teachers will be sent information to share with students during Hawk Time (Advisory) about
vaping/THC use. Also, the students will discuss why it’s important to be drug free and how vaping/THC use is destructive.
• There will be drug free activities planned for the lunch periods.
Tuesday (Theme: “Dream The Drugs Away!”) • Students and staff may wear appropriate pajamas. • Teachers will be sent information to share with students during Hawk Time (Advisory) about the
dangers that come with drug use. Also, the students will discuss dreams of drug free futures away from the dangers that come with drug use.
• There will be drug free activities planned for the lunch periods.
Wednesday (Theme: “Think About A Drug-Free Future!”/College Day) • Students and staff may wear college gear. • Teachers will be sent information to share with students during Hawk Time (Advisory) about how
drug and alcohol abuse have negative effects. Also, the students will discuss how drug and alcohol abuse negatively affects high school life, college life, and your mental state.
• There will be drug free activities planned for the lunch periods.
Thursday (Theme: “Team Up And Don’t Do Drugs!”) • Students and staff may wear their favorite sports team attire. • Students may hang with drug-free friends who are dedicated to abstaining from vaping and other
drugs. • Teachers will be sent information to share with students during Hawk Time (Advisory) about the
effects of second-hand smoke. Also, the students will discuss how second-hand smoke makes being drug free important for more than just one person.
• There will be drug free activities planned for the lunch periods.
Friday (Theme: Know The Facts) • Kahoot in lunch over information, facts, statistics, myths regarding vaping/THC usage for teens.

drugs. • All students and staff will receive a Red “Send A Message. Stay Drug Free.™” ribbon to wear all
week to show their commitment to remain drug free. • Students may sign a pledge to be displayed throughout the week. • Student Council members will create a video of students giving reasons not to do drugs/alcohol for the
announcements.
Tuesday (Theme: “USA Needs To Lead The Fight Against Drugs World Wide!”) • Students may dress in patriotic wear to signify their support for being drug free. • Announcements will also include a drug fact. • Student Council members will staff a table in the cafeteria to hand out drug/alcohol prevention
material.
Wednesday (Theme: “Scrub Out Drugs!”) • Students and staff will be encouraged to wear scrubs to signify drugs can truly be wiped out. • Student Council members will staff a table in the cafeteria to hand out drug/alcohol prevention

Thursday (Theme: “Let’s Make Drug Awareness Go Viral!”) • Students and staff will be encouraged to dress as their favorite viral meme to signify how quickly
messages spread in today’s society. The same can be done with spreading a healthy lifestyle. • Drunk Driving facts will be given during daily announcements.
Friday (Theme: Wear Red Day) • Students and staff will be encouraged to wear red with denim and red accents to signify the
importance of living a drug and alcohol free lifestyle. • The history of Red Ribbon Week® will be read and a fact about drug/alcohol use will be given. • Student Council members will staff a table in the cafeteria to hand out drug/alcohol prevention
material and for student signatures.

Monday (Theme: “We Pledge To Keep Our Hands Off Drugs!”) • Students and staff will put their handprint on poster pledging to keep hands off drugs. • All students and staff will receive a red “Send A Message. Stay Drug Free.™” ribbon.
Tuesday (Theme: “Scrub Out Drugs!”) • Students and staff will be encouraged to wear scrubs. • A medical fact concerning the negative effects of drug use will be given on the announcements.
Wednesday (Theme: “RED-y To Be Drug Free!”/Wear Red Day) • Students and staff may wear red to promote a drug free lifestyle. • Haltom City Police will come out to do Drunk Buster goggles, drug dog, and drunk driving simulator
demonstration, if approved.
Thursday (Theme: “Send A Message. Stay Drug Free.™”) • Students and staff may wear their favorite college T-shirt or sports jersey to show their strength to be
drug free.
Friday (Theme: “Spook Out Drugs!”) • There will be a “Spider Web of Commitment To Remain Drug Free!” • Students and staff will write a commitment to remain drug free and place it on the spider web in the
Commons Area.
