1. After insertion of the pipe, with the components at rest, the ‘O’ ring provides the water seal andthe grip ring is ready to resist any pull out.

2. Water pressure forces the ‘O’ ring against the grip ring pushing both components down thetaper of the fitting creating an excellent pressure seal on the pipe.

3. As the water pressure rises, the ‘O’ ring is forced further down the tapered body towards thegrip ring, increasing the sealing pressure against the pipe and body.

4. In negative pressure conditions the ‘O’ ring remains in its original seating position andprovides an effective vacuum seal.

The Talbot Pushfit connection is a tried and tested method of connecting low, medium and high density metric polyethylenewater pipe from 16mm to 63mm.

Benefits

User Friendly

The Talbot Pushfit fitting is quick and easy to use with no nuts to leave undone - simply push thepipe into the fitting.

Stronger than the Pipe

The fittings grip and seal on the pipe increases with water pressure and tensile load. This meansthat the PE pipe will burst or neck before the connection fails. The Talbot Pushfit fitting ispressure rated PN16.

Tough and Robust

Talbot Pushfit fittings are manufactured from high performance materials for resistance todistortion and corrosion and for strong threaded connections.

Talbot Grippa Universal Service Connector

Benefits

The Talbot Grippa is a universal fitting that connects onto a wide variety of existing lead, galvanised iron and copper pipes with no change of components. The range consists of justthree fittings which suit all metal pipes with outside diameters of 15mm to 34mm.

Universal

One fitting securely connects onto copper and galvanised iron service pipes.

Simple to Install

Simply push the pipe into the fitting and tighten, no loose assembly of components or specialpreparation of the pipe or cutting of threads.

Cost Effective

With only three fittings covering the majority of copper and galvanised iron pipe sizes, stock isdramatically reduced.

Pushfit Assembly and Dismantling Instructions

Pushfit Assembly Instructions

User experience indicates that Pushfit fittings cope better with adverse site conditions than compression fittings. However if a connection failure occurs please check that:

• The pipe has been pushed fully home. • The ‘O’ ring or the grip ring are not damaged.

• Correct components have been used. • Pipe is not excessively scored at the sealing area.

1. Bevel the pipe.

2. Push the pipe fully into the fitting with a slight twist.

3. Ensure that the pipe passes two points of resistance and is fully seated.

Pushfit Dismantling Instructions

1. Slide extractors home and withdraw the pipe.

2. Extract the grip ring with a screwdriver. Do not re-use the grip ring.

3. Extract and inspect the ‘O’ ring - replace it if damaged.

4. Insert a new grip ring by forming a figure ‘6’ and pressing it in.

5. Ensure the grip ring is inserted the correct way round.

1 2

Grippa Assembly Instructions

Set out below are the assembly instructions for the universal end of the Grippa fitting. Forinstructions on how to assemble the Pushfit end of the connection please refer to the Pushfitassembly instructions shown above.

1. Cut the pipe square and ensure it is clean, round and within tolerance. Scrape off any loosepaint or deep scratches.

2. Push the universal end of the fitting onto the pipe, PAST the first point of resistance and UP TOthe second.

3. Hand tighten the nut on the PE end.

4. Tighten with a spanner or wrench a further 11/2 turns.

How the Universal Fitting Works

The Rilsan Nylon II coating offers excellent impact and abrasion resistance. This durable coatingremoves the need for further on site protection and gives the fitting an excellent installed life span.

The captivated mild steel bolts are fully coated in Rilsan or Sheraplex to WIS 4-52-03.

PVC end caps are fitted on the bolt threads for additional protection during transit. Other boltmaterials are available on special request.

1. To install the fitting loosen the bolts and slide the fitting over theend of the pipe.

2. Once the fitting has been correctly positioned, tighten the boltsevenly in a diametrically opposing sequence to a torque of 61-68Nm (45- 50lb.ft). As the bolts are tightened, the gland ring(s)is drawn in, compressing the rubber seal(s) around the pipe, creating a leak free connection.

UPE Universal Fittings

Talbot UPE fittings connect all rigid pipe materials in any combination. New wider tolerances now available offer more stock savings, greater flexibility of application and easier productidentification. These products suit pipes from 40mm to 300mm and offer the added benefit of a wide size tolerance enabling one product to fit a range of pipe sizes and materials of the sameor different nominal bores.

Universal

One fitting connects onto a variety of rigid pipe material and sizes.

Simple to Install

Simply push the fitting onto the pipe and tighten the fasteners, no loose assembly of componentsor special preparation of the pipe. All fittings, are supplied assembled and ready for use.

Benefits

UPE Engineered Fittings

The UPE range of Engineered fittings is available in sizes from 350mm to 2200mm and willconnect all rigid pipe materials. These fittings are manufactured to suit the customers exactrequirements and are supplied fully assembled with a manufactured tolerance of +5mm and -6mmfrom the specified outside diameter.

Manufactured to customers exact specification

Available in a range of flange adaptors and stepped and equal couplings for all common rigid pipematerials from 350mm to 2200mm.

Simple to Install

Installation Instructions

Flange Adaptors

Preparation

Select the correct type and size of fitting for the situation and ensure that the pipe to be connected to is clean, round, free fromdeep scratches, scores or general imperfections that may prevent an effective seal. Also ensure that the relative angle of the twopipes conforms to suggested maximum for couplings of +/- 6°.

Preparation

Select the correct type and size of fitting for the situation and ensure that the pipe to be connected to is clean, round, free fromdeep scratches, scores or general imperfections that may prevent an effective seal. Also ensure that the relative angle of the pipeto the flange conforms to suggested maximum for flange adaptors of +/- 3°.

Assembly

1. Slide the fitting over one of the pipes to be connected.

2. Line up the other pipe end (ensuring that a setting gap of approximately 10mm - 18mmis maintained).

3. Mark the pipe to ensure accurate location of the fitting over the setting gap.

4. Locate the fitting using the marks and, to ensure an even fit, tighten the fasteners in adiametrically opposed sequence to a torque of 61- 68Nm (45- 50lb.ft).

Assembly

1. Slide the fitting over the plain ended pipe to be connected.

2. Line up the pipe end with the flanged pipe and insert a suitable gasket between the matingflanges (ensure that a setting gap of approximately 10mm - 18mm is maintained).

3. Bolt the flanges together ensuring the gasket remains in place.

4. Tighten the flange adaptor retaining fasteners in a diametrically opposed sequence to a torque of61- 68Nm (45- 50lb.ft).

All UPE fittings are supplied ready assembled and pre lubricated allowing for efficient installation on site.

Straight Couplings are used in new pipe laying or for repairing old pipes. Couplings are also used where ground settlement is expected because oftheir ability to take angular deflections. They also allow for thermal expansion as pipes may move in and out +/-10mm.

Flange Adaptors are used for installing flanged equipment into a new or existing pipeline. Because they can be slipped along the pipe they give workingroom to install new gaskets and equipment in the future.

Stepped flange adaptors perform the same function as flange adaptors. They are used where the nominal flange size is different to the nominal pipe size.

2Notes:

• AC pipe outside diameters are stated at the turned end. (The pipe is usually bigger when cut in the middle).

• Copper pipes are generally one nominal diameter smaller than their PVC equivalents.

• Where the pipe standard is unknown take the actual outside diameter measurement.

• Fittings with other tolerances are available - please contact Talbot for details.

• UPE Couplings and Flange Adaptors are approved by all major water authorities in Australia.
