Refrigerator/Microwave Refrigerators and microwaves are provided in the Graduate Residence Hall. Personal microwaves are prohibited in on-campus residence hall rooms and suites. A resident assistant (RA) is a Hofstra student who lives in and supervises a floor in a residence hall. Your RA is there to provide direction with any concerns you may encounter on campus or within your residence hall. Security The Graduate Residence Hall is monitored 24 hours a day by a resident safety representative. There is a sign-in procedure at the Public Safety booth at the building. All persons entering the residence hall, both residents and nonresidents, must present acceptable identification before being admitted to the building. The only acceptable form of identification for a Hofstra student is a current and valid HofstraCard. GRADUATE RESIDENCE HALL The Graduate Residence Hall is a five-story residential facility composed of 58 fully furnished suites housing more than 200 graduate, law, and medical students. Some suites offer three or four single bedrooms, while other suites have two double bedrooms where students share a bedroom with a roommate. Each room is equipped with satellite TV hookup and internet service.

Graduate Residence Hall Amenities The suites in the Graduate Residence Hall are furnished. Individual bedrooms offer a twin, extra-long bed; wardrobe; desk with hutch; and desk chair. Every bedroom also has a window and an individually controlled heating and air-conditioning unit. Each common area includes a couch, two chairs and coffee tables. The kitchenettes are complete with a stovetop burner, refrigerator, microwave, and kitchen table with chairs. Installed in the facility are fire sprinkler systems, two hydraulic elevators, and three stairways. The first floor houses the primary meeting and common area lounges, while each floor is equipped with a laundry room, recycling room, and two study rooms. The Graduate Residence Hall is accessible to persons with disabilities.

WHAT TO BRING We encourage residents to bring personal items to make their living experience more enjoyable. Due to space limitations, we suggest that residents consult with suitemates regarding what items each will bring, in order to avoid duplicates. Suggested items include a desk lamp, area rug(s), television(s), cooking utensils, dishware, drinkware, and microfridge.

Note: One (1) coffeemaker, one (1) toaster, and one (1) rice cooker per apartment are permitted in the kitchen area only of the Graduate Residence Hall.

PROHIBITED ITEMS In order to keep the Graduate Residence Hall a safe living community, we do not permit the following items in the residence hall: extension cords, curtains, tapestries, electric grills, candles, incense, halogen lamps, and toaster ovens. All furniture and room furnishings must be fire retardant.
