EXPERIMENT: Mechanics
AIM: To determine the relative density of the material of a paper clip.
THEOR: The density of a s!"stance is the ratio of the mass to the vol!me of the s!"stance.
#ensity In other terms is mass per !nit vol!me. Therefor the form!la for density can "e fo!nd
!sin$ the form!la: #ensity %&' ( Mass) *ol!me. #ensity. If the density of an o"+ect is less than
the density of the li,!id it is placed in- the o"+ect ill float. Hoever if the density of the o"+ect
is $reater than that of the li,!id it ill in/. Relative density is defined as the ration "eteen the
density of the s!"stance to the density of ater. Therefore Relative density ( P r ) ( #ensity of the
s!"stance( P s') #ensity of ater% P '.

ater completely.
?. A meas!rin$ cylinder as then placed at the "ottom of the displacement can and the 899
paper clips ere placed into the can.@. The ater as alloed to drip completely into the meas!rin$ cylinder.
