About the institution

Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology (RIT) Kottayam established in the year 1991, is a premier technical institution in Kerala. It is governed by Directorate of Technical Education, Govt. of Kerala. The college is situated 15 km away from the Kottayam railway station, towards east on NH 183 (KK Road) at Pampady. It offers undergraduate courses in six major streams, seven post graduate courses and doctoral research programmes. The college is celebrating Silver Jubilee this year and a yearlong celebration was inaugurated by Smt. Sonia Gandhi on 30th December 2015.

Department of Civil Engineering

The Department of Civil Engineering has been in existence since the inception of RIT. The Department offers B. Tech course in Civil Engineering and M. Tech course in Transportation Engineering. Department of Civil Engineering is approved as a research center MG university and is recognized as a QIP centre for PhD by AICTE.

About the Colloquium

The research colloquium will provide an excellent platform for knowledge exchange between researchers, academicians and industrialists working in different areas of Environmental Water Resources Engineering such as Water and Wastewater Treatment, Pollution control, Water Resources Planning, Solid Waste Management, Water Quality Modeling etc. It will give an opportunity to the young researchers to present their research, discuss and share it among the distinguished experts and fellow participants. The programme also aims to give an exposure to the trends, issues and challenges in these areas.

The main objectives of the programme are:

1. To orient young researchers to take up effective research in the field of Environmental and Water Resources Engineering.

2. To interact with experts from academia and industry in the relevant field.

3. To understand new tools and techniques related to relevant research area.

Eligibility for Admission

The programme is indented for faculty members and post graduate students in Environmental and Water Resources Engineering disciplines. The total number of seats is limited to 50.

Fee Structure

No registration fee for post graduate students and faculty members from AICTE approved engineering colleges. Resource Persons

Faculty and Research Scholars from IIT Madras, NIT Calicut, NIT Trichy, RIT, Kottaym, etc. will handle the sessions.
