Community Service Starwood Care In line with the Global Citizenship Programme of the brand, The St. Regis Bali Resort undertook this worthwhile initiative and chose the two orphanages based on their individual and separate needs as well as to essentially improve the overall lives, both in general day to day living and in schooling, of the children. The St. Regis Bali Resort launched its adoption, on Monday, 21 June 2010 of two orphanages in Bali, Guna Tuna Rungu and Udyana Wiguna. The first, Guna Tuna Rungu, is an orphanage of deaf and mute children ranging in age from 6 to 16. The orphanage, which encompasses schooling facilities as well as housing for 40 out of 80 students who are enrolled in the school, is in dire need of building and equipment repair as well as educational equipment and tools for the teaching requirements of the deaf and mute students. As a first step, employees of the St. Regis Bali have contributed by way of their time in fixing small areas of the buildings that need immediate improvement. The second orphanage, Udyana Wiguna, has accommodation that can take up to 100 children but due to a lack of funds, they currently only house 25 children. In order to maximize the potential capacity of the existing orphanage facilities, it requires funds for the schooling and food needs of additional children Check Out For Children The Check Out For Children ™ program is an alliance between Starwood Hotels & Resorts and UNICEF. This program gives every guest at Starwood Hotels the opportunity to support UNICEF's work through the addition of US$1 (or its equivalent in another currency) to their bill. Since 1995, donations from the Check Out For Children™ have help to immunize over one million children in underdeveloped countries. To raise additional funds to support the Check put For Children™, the St Regis Bali Resort held an exclusive Charity Dinner on 20 August 2010 at the Kayuputi beachfront fine dining restaurant where two exceptional personalities, Executive Chef, Oscar Perez and Sommalier, Harald Wiesmann presented the guests with an exquisite six course degustation dinner excellently paired with premium wines.
