2007: For A Green Ha Long Bay Incoordination with the Halong Bay Management Board, travel agents and locals, since 2007, we have developed the program named “For a Green Halong Bay” with many projects towards community and environment

2011: Yen Duc VillageSince 2011, community based tourism in Yen Duc village has been developed and achieved many great positive results toward the local community, environment, culture and tradition preservation

2015: Binh LieuThe community based tourism project in Binh Lieu was started at the end of 2015, plan to build and welcome tourists in 2018.

2015: Halong citySince 2015, Many projects in Halong city have been launched to raise awareness about environmental protection, sustainable life and education

2008- Collect rubbish at two floating villages - Provide life jacket to local fisherman

2009 - Change the Styrofoam floats by plastics floats - Replant mangroves forest in Bai Tu Long bay.

2011 – Now - Build a new floating school in Vung Vieng fishing village.- Cleanup natural beaches in Bai Tu Long - Collect floating rubbish on the bay

2010 - Help fisherman raise clean fish and protect biodiversity of Halong bay.

More than 80% approximately 3 ton of rubbish in every distinations has been collected and treated.

128 life jackets were given to the fisherman .

Over 5820 Styrofoam floats were replaced by plastic floats

In 2014, Indochina became a member of Halong Catba Aliiance project. Since then, we have made positive contributions to the conservation of natural and cultural heritage and participated in many responsible tourism subjects.

Raising awareness of local people about environmental protection, plating trees and cleaning up the village

Promoting village’s tradition and cultural activities: folk songs performance, water puppetry, traditional music training class…

EDUCATION

Free English class, music class, sponsored scholarship and other training program for children. Organizing cultural tour for children to Yen Duc village,

COMMUNITY BASED TOURISM AT YEN DUC VILLAGESince 2011, community based tourism in Yen Duc village has created many positive impacts on local community

400 villagers have been trained about community based tourism and understand about the positive effect of tourism to the community

50 villagers have directly worked for the get than 3.000.000 VND/ month.

2 homestay with 7 rooms have been developed in the village

Thousands of international visitors have visited the village and appreciated the local life and culture here

Investigate and develop homestays, electric cars and other tourist service with unique experience in Halong city

LOCAL COMMUNITY

Launch a NLP couching class to improve people life and the lives of others.

EDUCATION

Operate an art & literature society class which includes 40 lectures and tutorials for the children in the summer of 2016

COMMUNITY BASED TOURISM AT HA LONGSince 2015, Indochina Junk has introduced a new kind of tourist service in Ha Long City, which is Electric Car, very friendly to environment.

EDUCATION- Reading corner for students - English speaking club for secondary school students- Vocational orientation and training then create working opportunity for young people in Binh Lieu

COMMUNITY BASED TOURISM AT BINH LIEU In early 2015, Indochina-Junk decided to support the local people live in Binh Lieu home of many minor minorities who still maintain the traditional way of life.

Together with the local authority, we create many meaningful activities for local people in general and for the next generation in particularly.

TRAVELIFE CERTIFICATIONOn 8th of October 2016, the leader of Indochina Junk Cruise JSC decided to apply for an appraisal certificate from the Travelife organization – a prestigious certificate

recognized worldwide among Responsible Tourism operators and travel services providers.

Based on the company vision, the following sustainable development objectives are recommended for the period 2016 – 2020: • Sustainability objective 1: To continuously certified by Travelife and recognized by customers and partners.• Sustainability objective 2: To be the first cruise company in Halong Bay to run cruises sustainably by improving eco-friendly technical solutions on cruises;• Sustainability objective 3: To enhance industry corporation in securing the sustainability of destinations we’re operating in.

For the consultancy period from 10/2016-03/2017, the sustainable development objectives aim to realize the following general targets:• To be certified by Travelife;• To have all sustainable policies in place and publicity;• To get involved of Indochina Junk’s workforce to the improvement of the environment and its coastal communities, of safety, security and health for employees and customers;• To have a measurement and assessment system in place to meet numeric targets in sustainability.
