the Earth’s political characteristics are highlighted.

Designed from satellite images, the globe is

mounted in a black metal meridian and

anthracite base. Some assembly required.

Illuminating the WorldCRAM is one of the best-known and most respected American

globe manufacturers. It began as a mapmaking company,

Blanchard and Cram, in Evanston, Illinois, in 1867. Two years

later the company moved to Chicago and George F. Cram

became the sole owner. After the Great Chicago Fire of 1871,

the company was rebuilt and was a seller of atlases in addition

to maps.

When Mr. Cram retired in 1921, the company was sold

and moved to Indianapolis where globe manufacturing began

in 1932. Through a series of acquisitions and product additions,

the company became a pioneer in innovative globe technology.

CRAM introduced the first vacuum-formed illuminated globe,

the first vacuum-formed globe, and the first fiberboard globe

produced from a digital file. CRAM continues to expand its

selection of quality map and globe products for educational

and commercial markets worldwide. In 2005, CRAM was

acquired by Herff Jones.
