1) Reverse Engineer your PEN for a) Component functionality.b) Component associativity with assembly.

Solution- I have Cello Techno Tip ball pen.

Page 2: Reverse Engineering a Pen

On reverse engineering, we proceed from last to first stage of manufacturing. So on step by step removal of each component it will be as shown in adjoining figure.

Components and their functionality:1) Barrel-It is the body of pen; its function is to house refill.2) Main Cap- It is the cap which is fitted to barrel, and it covers the metal nip portion

from any sort of external damages.3) Front cap(threaded to barrel)-it is attached to barrel front end and helps in better

holding of refill4) Back Cap(threaded to barrel)-It is attached to the back end of barrel and holds

refill in place.5) Rubber Grip- it is provided at the location of holding the pen, genrally for better

and long-hours writing.6) Refill-it is the main functional unit of pen.7) Ink-It is the liquid which disperses through the ball point or rotating ball,, which

left behind mark on paper.8) Nib-made of steel, to hold the rotating ball and 9) Rotating ball(inside nip)- made of steel to disperse ink as we write.

In addition there are some points I would like to mentionIn reverse order

1) Main cap fitting to barrel2) Manufacturer code is sticked to barrel3) Gripper attached.4) Front end cap attached5) Refill attached to back end cap6) This assembly is attached to barrel in is held fixed with threaded grooves.
