GCSE, AS & A2 Public Exams
The public examinations season has now
begun for all students in Years 11-13 and
GCSE RE for Year 10, as well.
Most exams are taking place in the Sports Hall and
upstairs in College VI, although the Main Hall is also
being used sometimes. All students are reminded to be
considerate to those taking exams, keeping quiet
around these areas. If you have any exam queries you
need to see Mrs Skinner, Examinations Officer
immediately.
Good luck!

Word: Volatile
Definition: liable to change rapidly and unpredictably,
especially for the worse.
Etymology: from Latin volatilis "fleeting, transitory;
swift, rapid; flying, winged," from past participle stem of
volare "to fly". Sense of "readily changing, flighty, fickle"
is first recorded in 1640s. Volatiles in Middle English
meant "birds, butterflies, and other winged creatures".
Words in Action: Many of the men in Of Mice and Men
are both volatile and violent.
And Finally…..
Duke of Edinburgh goes Gold!
We are delighted to have extended the Duke of
Edinburgh Award this year to Gold Level for a group of
nine students in College VI. They have been working on
preparations for their practice and assessed expeditions
to the Black Mountains in Wales and the Lake District,
which will be taking place in June and July this Summer.
We are extremely grateful for
the support shown by
Riddlesdown PTA and their kind
donation of £2000.
