Risk Assessment- Walking to Place of Visit

Slips, Trips and Falls All Ascertain seriousness of fall by
checking for head injury.
If child is unconscious,
immediately call for an
ambulance and ask First Aid
trained colleague to intervene.
If injury is minor, check if child is
able to go on. If not, inform
school so a staff member can pick
the child up.
If so, continue and monitor child
throughout trip.

When crossing road, make sure
highway code is followed strictly.
Staff member acts as crossing
patrol and stays in middle of road
until all traffic has passed.

On Maidstone road, a spot will be
picked where the view is clear.
Furthermore, to cross a usually
busy Sparkenhoe road, children
will cross at a zebra crossing.
In view of an accident:
Move those who are unaffected to
a safe distance.
Deal with casualties as best as one
can until emergency help arrives.
Contact school as soon as
possible.
Contact Crisis Line as soon as
possible.
Co-operate with emergency
services and at least one member
of staff accompanies injured child
to hospital. They remain there
until parents or guardians arrive.
Illness Children Ascertain seriousness of illness.
Deal with illness on site if able to
do so.
Call ambulance if serious. First

Children will move around
building in class groups, as
opposed to year groups. They
will be warned about behaviour
on staircases and will walk
single file, with a staff member
at the beginning and end of the
line.
