Greetings Riverhouse Hospitality Family!

Over the weekend of April 28th at the Meriden Annual Daffodil Festival, Riverhouse Hospitality worked together with the

Meriden Boys & Girls Club to raise funds for a great charity. The Meriden Boys & Girls Club does a lot more than run

sports leagues. Among many other services, the Club reaches out to the community to help at-risk children in broken

homes. They provide everything from meals to mentoring free of charge. Through our Riverhouse Catering division, we

provided at cost 1,200 servings of two types of mac-n-cheese. The food was a great hit but most importantly, the B&G

Club raised approximately $4,000!! Riverhouse Hospitality has a history since our inception of helping great causes-

especially when it involves children. A big shout-out to our partner Mark Poole who “drove the bus” on this event-

planning, setting up and delivering multiple batches of food over the weekend and our RHC team for producing all of that

great food!

We should all feel very proud to know that by working hard making our family company a success, we can in turn help

others.

Trevor, Mark and Jim

It’s finally Spring!

Let’s Get Outside and Get Walking!!

Walking is one of the best ways to get into an exercise routine because it’s a simple way to work muscle groups and burn calories. But the benefits add up when you commit yourself to walking more often and gradually increase your pace. It’s not enough just to keep the same walking routine every day – if you really want to enjoy the benefits of this exercise, it’s best to walk at least 30 minutes a day, distraction free, and gradually increase the pace. Some of the many benefits of walking include *Maintaining a healthy weight *Prevent or manage various conditions, including heart disease, high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes *Strengthen your bones and muscles *Improve your mood *Improve your balance and coordination

So lets go for a walk!

We’re ready to go. Are you?

Springtime Appetizer

Steamed Artichokes with Herb Aioli

Ingredients

o 4 large artichokes (about 2½ pounds)

o ½ cup mayonnaise

o 1½ tablespoons chopped fresh herbs, such as chives and/or parsley

o 1½ teaspoons lemon juice

o ¾ teaspoon Dijon mustard

o 1 small clove garlic, grated

o ⅛ teaspoon salt

o Pinch of ground pepper

Directions

Cut off the top inch of leaves from the artichokes. Remove the outer layer of small, tough leaves from the stem end. Snip all remaining spiky tips from the outer leaves. Cut off and discard the stems.

Bring 2 inches of water to a boil in a large pot fitted with a steamer basket. Add the artichokes. Cover and steam until tender, adding more hot water as necessary, 30 to 35 minutes.

Whisk mayonnaise, herbs, lemon juice, mustard, garlic, salt and pepper in a small bowl. Serve with the artichokes.
