ROBOTICS
There isn’t any specific law to be a robot, but to be a robot, a machine have to do some of this things: move, have a robotic arm, feel,…
What is a Robot? A robot is a virtual or
mechanical artificial agent. It is usually an electro-
mechanical machine which is guided by computer or electronic programming, and is thus able to do tasks on its own.
Most important parts at basic
robots Five major
components of Basic Robots:
1. A body structure 2. A muscle system3. A sensory system4. A power source5. The brain system
The Three Laws of Robotic
I. A Robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
II. A Robot must obey any oders given to it by a human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
III. A Robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict whit the First or the Second Law
There are some different types of robots, and everybody now someone, but now we are going to explain some of them…
The beginning The term robot
comes from the Czech word robota, generally translated as "forced labor." This describes the majority of robots fairly well.
Types of Robots
Robotics Arms Mobile Robots
Robotics ArmsThese is the most common manufacturing robot, and they are joined by six joints. This types of robots resembles a human arm, and it can pivot in six different ways.
Forearm
ElbowShoulder
Base
End effectors
There are some types of end effectors, like a simplified version of the hand. But there are others:• Pressure sensors• Blowtorches• Drills• Spray painters
Where do they work? Most of this industrial robots work in auto assembly lines putting cars together
But, manufacturing robots are also very important in the computer industry
Mobile Robots
The first obstacle in robotic was to give the robot a working locomotion system with: -Wheels or tracks -Legs
How do they move? They usualy use hydraulic or pneumathic pistons. This make bipedal, or other type of locomotion possible
But to move, the robots requiered a balance system( or a colection of gyroscopes)
How do you control them?
Some mobile robots are controlled by remote, using radio or infrared signals. Or with a wire.
Types of Robots
Autonomous Robots Homebrew Robots
Autonomous Robots The basic idea is that they can act on their own. That’s because they are programmed to respond a certain way to outside stimuli. The bump-and-go robot is a good illustration of this sort of robots.
How do they work? These kinds of robots have a bump sensor which
detects the obstacles. If you turn the robot on it moves in a straight line, however when it hits an obstacle, the impact pushes in the bumper sensor.
Then the robot’s programming tells it to go back, turn right or left and go forward again.
Where do they work?
• Familiar environment: • Unfamiliar environment:
Lawn-mowing robots
Floor cleaning robot
Rover robot
How do they see the worldSimpler mobile
robots: They use infrared or ultrasound sensors to see obstacles.
More advanced robots: These robots use stereo vision to see the world around them.
Homebrew RobotsHomebrew robots are machines
which have been cobble together using commercial robot kits, toys
and even and VCRs by a passionate band of amateur robotics.
They tinker with elaborate walking machines.
Types of homebrew robots
Battle-Bots
Soccer Robots
The future
How are robots advancing?
Evolutionary robotics submitted to tests Methods: Developmental robotics tracks changes
New functions and abilitiesJapan hopes to have full-scale commercialization of service robots by 2025
We don’t know if robots are going to were ending for controlling ourselves, which we know is that nowadays nobody can’t live without them
Any question?
