You can help by following three simple rules: 1. Recycle empty plastic bottles, cans, paper and cardboard. 2. Keep foods and liquids out of your recycling. 3. Keep plastic bags out of your recycling. *Residential collection service will be delayed one day following the above holidays. If a holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, there will be no delays.

Ridgecrest residents can recycle trees and wreaths on the first two regularly scheduled pickup days after Christmas at no additional cost, by placing them at the curb on their service day. Trees longer than six (6) feet must be cut in half.

Please remove all decorations including tinsel, lights, ornaments and tree stands.

Tips for a Greener 2019!

•Having friends over to celebrate the New Year? Be sure to clearly label recycling containers so guests can conveniently recycle bottles, cans, paper and other recyclables.

•Celebrations always mean lots of leftovers! Store them in reusable containers and have a compost bin for food scraps- they’re great for your garden!

•When shopping for party decorations or food, don’t forget to bring your reusable bags along with you!

Free Bulky Item CollectionIf getting rid of junk is part of your New Year’s resolution, let us help! Residents receive up to three (3) free bulky item pick-ups per year. Please contact Waste Management Customer Service at least 48 hours in advance of your regular service day to schedule the pickup, or schedule online at home.wm.com/ridgecrest.Acceptable items include furniture, appliances, tires, mattresses and electronics. Non-acceptable items include hazardous waste; machinery and industrial discards; oil, grease, and other liquids; construction and demolition debris; excessively large items. Please do not include cardboard boxes with trash or bags.

Start the Year Fresh with Free Bulky Item Pickup

Rolling Hills Estates residents may request four (4) free bulky item pickups per year (up to five items per pickup). Up to ten 32 gallon trash bags can also be accepted as a bulky item pickup.

Acceptable items include: sofas, chairs, washers, dryers, toilets, etc.

Non-acceptable items include: tires, batteries, paints, oils, construction debris, chemicals of any kind, Freon, rocks, sand, gravel, dirt, logs, carpet, hazardous or medical waste.

Please call (800) 774-0222 at least 24 hours in advance of your collection day to schedule a pickup, or fill out a request form online at home.wm.com/rolling-hills-estates.

Rolling Hills Estates residents can safely dispose of household hazardous waste using Waste Management’s At Your Door Special CollectionSM. The materials are collected

right from your front door! Common items include pool chemicals, paint products, automotive products, garden chemicals, household chemicals and electronics.

There are three easy ways to participate:

Become a Recycling Hero!By following the recycling guidelines below, you could be on your way to becoming a Recycling Hero! Every quarter, the City’s top recyclers are nominated by their drivers to enter the Waste Management Recycling Hero contest. A winner is selected at random during the quarterly City Council meeting. He or she will receive a year’s worth of free residential trash and recycling services!

How to enter: All you have to do is be a Recycling Hero! Recycle as much as you can to divert your refuse from our waste streams. This saves energy and natural resources and reduces our dependence on landfills. Your driver will do the rest!
