Røros World Heritage Site

• Initiated and project managment by South-Trøndelag County Library (autumn …..2004)

• Create a project who involved participants from museum, archive and library

• Financed by the Norwegian archive, library and museum authority and Høykom - A support initiative for broadband based, information intensive eGovernment services. Budget 1.700 000 NOK

• A cooperation between the South Trøndelag County Library, Røros Public Library and The Røros Museum.

• Røros on UNESCOs World heritage list since 1980

• Main goal: ”To make culture heritage and historic material accessible to different users by presenting it digitaly and in high quality.

• Another goal in the project has been to create a method for use in the future development in presentation of The World Heritage Siteand also to be used by other similar project. Gain experience in cooperation with institutions from other professions.

• www.worldheritageroros.no is a website that digitally presents The Røros World Heritage Site through film, photographs, literature, animation and articles. The three partners are responsible for the entire content of the website.

• Norwegian version of the website was launched in 2005 and the english version in 2006.

• Roros World Heritage site is an extensive subject to present

• We have attempted to present the main themes, supported by examples, to illustrate what the World Heritage Site actually comprises and the history, which has made it into a World Heritage Site.

• The website has 6 main themes• 15 minutes of film which is presented in 13

different sequences• About 300 digitized historical pictures.• About 90 historical articles adapted to the main

themes. Made by historians at the museum and the university in Trondheim

• Litterature lists about themes which are about The World heritage site.

• Animation showing the deforestation in the area.
