New program could lower prescription costs Hennepin County will launch a partnership next week with a Florida company that could result in lower prescription and health- care costs for residents and a ben- efit for selected county programs, according to a news release. “The no-cost Coast2Coast Rx card could provide savings of up to 75 percent on tens of thousands of prescriptions with additional savings available on health-care services including diabetes sup- plies, services such as lab and imaging, and vision, dental and hearing care,” according to the release. “The program also offers discounts on pet prescriptions and some veterinary care.” Hennepin County officials and representatives from Financial Marketing Concepts Inc. an- nounced the launch on Tuesday. ‘Dump the Pump’ is today SouthWest Transit will join with other public transportation systems nationwide to participate in the eighth annual National Dump the Pump Day on Thursday, June 20. The slogan of this year’s National Dump the Pump Day is “Dump the Pump. Save Money. Ride Transit,” according to a news release. Sponsored by the American Public Transportation Associa- tion , the 2013 National Dump the Pump Day is a day that encourages people to ride public transporta- tion and save money, instead of driving a car. “Started in June 2006 when gas prices were $3 per gallon, this na- tional day emphasizes that public transportation is a great travel option that also helps people save money,” the release states. A ribbon cutting is planned sometime later this summer, ac- cording to Parks and Recreation Director Jay Lotthammer. Rowell appointed to sports commission

Alex Rowell Jr. of Eden Prairie has been reappointed to the Minne-sota Amateur Sports Commission.

The appointment was recently announced by Gov. Mark Dayton.

Rowell’s appointment became effective June 19 and he was des-ignated as chair. His term expires on Jan. 4, 2016.

The Eden Prairie Rotary Club was on site with the city of Eden Prairie as the “Prairie Grass & Soaring
