Never change the position, inclination orco lour o f : number p la te , d i rec t i onindicators, lights and horns.

Any modification of the vehicle will result inthe invalidity of the warranty.

Any modification of the vehicle and/or theremoval of original components cancompromise vehicle performance levelsand safety or even make it illegal.

We recommend respecting all regulationsand national and local provisions regardingthe equipment of the vehicle.

In particular, avoid all modifications thatincrease the vehicles performance levelsor alter its original characteristics.

    Never race with other vehicles.

    Avoid off-road driving.

    CLOTHING

Before starting, always wear a correctlyfastened crash helmet. Make sure that it ishomologated, in good shape, of the right

size and that the visor is clean.Wear protective clothing, preferably in lightand/or reflecting colours. In this way youwill make yourself more visible to the otherdrivers, thus notably reducing the risk ofbeing knocked down, and you will be moreprotected in case of fall.

Do not keep objects that can be dangerousin case of fall, for example pointed objectslike keys, pens, glass vials etc. in yourpockets (the same recommendations alsoapply to passenger).

    ACCESSORIES

The owner of the vehicle is responsible forthe choice, installation and use of anyaccessory.Avoid installing accessories that coverhorns or lights or that could impair theirfunctions, limit the suspension stroke andthe steering angle, hamper the operation ofthe controls and reduce the distance fromthe ground and the angle of inclination inturns.Avoid using accessories that hamper

access to the controls, since this can makereac t ion t imes longer dur ing anemergency.Big fairings and windshields installed onthe vehicle may produce aerodynamicforces that affect the stability of the vehicle, especially when riding at high speed.

Make sure that the equipment is wellfastened to the vehicle and not dangerouswhen driving.Do not install electrical devices and do notmodify those already existing to avoid

electrical overloads, because the vehiclecould suddenly stop or there could be adangerous current shortage in the horn andin the lights.aprilia recommends the use of genuineaccessories (aprilia genuine accessories).

    LOAD

Be careful and moderate when loadingyour luggage. Keep any luggage loaded asclose as possible to the center of gravity ofthe vehicle and distribute the load evenlyon bo th s ides , i n o rder to reduceunbalance to the minimum. Furthermore, make sure that the load is firmly secured tothe vehicle, especially during long trips.

Avoid hanging bulky, heavy and/ordangerous objects on the handlebars, mudguards and forks, because the vehiclemight respond more slowly in turns and itsmanoeuvrability could be unavoidably

    CHECKING AND TOPPING UP

WARNINGWait for the engine to cool down beforechecking or topping up coolant level.

u Stop the engine and wait until it hascooled down.

u Hold the vehicle upright, with bothwheels on the ground.

u Look through the slot (1) in the rightfairing and check that coolant level in theexpansion tank is between the "FULL"and "LOW" marks.

    FULL = maximum level

    LOW = minimum level

    If not so:

u Remove the side fairing, see page 81(REMOVING THE SIDE FAIRINGS).

u Unscrew and remove the filler cap (2).

WARNINGCoolant is toxic when ingested. Contactwith eyes or skin may cause irritation.Do not put your fingers or any otherobject into the filler opening in order toensure that there is coolant.

CAUTIONDo not add any additives or otherproducts.

If you use a funnel or other tool, ensurethey are perfectly clean.

u Top up with coolant, see page 116(LUBRICANT CHART) up to just belowthe "FULL" mark. Never top up beyond the"FULL" level mark or coolant will leak outwhen the engine is running.

    uRefit the filler cap (2).

CAUTIONIf coolant level drops too quickly or thetank is empty, check the cooling circuitfor leaks. Have the leak repaired at anaprilia Official dealer.

NOTE Halve service intervals when thevehicle is used in rainy or dusty conditions,on rough roads or for racing.

WARNINGCheck the tyre condition and inflationpressure at room temperature every twoweeks.Check the tyre condition and inflationpressure at room temperature after the

first 1000 km (625 mi) and every twoweeks afterwards, see page 112(TECHNICAL DATA).

Checking pressure on hot tyres willresult in inaccurate measurement.

Take care to check tyre pressures

before and after a long journey. An overinflated tyre will provide a harshride, reduce riding comfort and stabilitywhen cornering.

An underinflated tyre will extend thecontact patch to include a larger portion

of the tyre wall (1). When this is thecase, the tyre may slip on or becomeseparated from the rim, leading to lossof control.

The tyre may even come off the rimunder hard braking.

Lastly, the vehicle may skid in a bend.

WARNINGInspect tread surface and check forwear. Badly worn tyres adversely affectroad holding and handling.

Some of the tyre types approved for this

vehicle are fitted with wear indicators. There are var ious types of wearindicators.

Enquire about the correct wearinspect ion procedure wi th yoursupplier.

Visually inspect the tyres for wear andhave them changed when worn.

A tyre that becomes punctured in thetread area should be changed when thepuncture is larger than 5 mm.

The wheel must be balanced after each

    tyre repair.

Use tyres of the specified type andmodel recommended by themanufacturer , see page 112(TECHNICAL DATA). Using other than

    specified tyres may adversely affecthandling.

Never use tube tyres on tubeless tyrerims, or vice versa.

Always check that the caps are in placeon the valves (2), or the tyres may

deflate suddenly.Tyre replacement and repair, as well aswheel servicing and balancing aredelicate operations. They should becarried out using adequate tools andare best left to experienced mechanics.

Have your tyres and wheels serviced atan apr i l ia Off ic ia l dea ler or aspecialised tyre repairer.

New tyres may be coated with an oilyfilm. Drive carefully until coveringseveral kilometres. Never apply non-specific products to the tyres. Old tyres

may not ensure full grip due to materialageing - even when they are still withinthe wear limit - and must be replaced.
