more. This program of prioritization has resulted in the most beautiful kingdoms of God (like France and England and Germany back in the day] that earth has ever known. The kingdom attempt of the Nazis or the communists which was antichrist resulted in the euthanizing of the weak and did not result in efficiency, but poverty and depression. Now God tells us in the readings that not only does he love the lost more, but that anyone who does not join him in this way of loving is going to get severely punished.
Sunday Reading Reflection Please continue to give to the Catholic Appeal. Call the rectory if you have any questions. The Pope has commanded (via a special authoritative letter called a moto proprio (Vos Estis Lux Mundi)) our Bishop (Cardinal Seán Patrick O’Malley, OFM Cap) who is the
Archbishop of Boston and therefore (as an archbishop) has responsibilities for the bishop of New England (save Connecticut) to take an active role in managing the Bishops under him. He also has James F. Driscoll, Esq. helping him to stay on top of the dire need in our state to protect and defend the direct and intentional taking of innocent human life. Call him at 617 367 6060 In the Gospel we see a continuation of the revelation of the way God reasons which is beyond and better than our unaided human reason. He emphasizes what he revealed last Sunday. Last Sunday he said that he loves that which is lost (i.e.) sinners, with a depth and excitement that is, from unaided human reason, inexplicable. When we employ his super reason we have a culture that not only values the depraved members contained within itself but, in truth, loves them

Upcoming Holy Day of Obligation The Solemnity of All Saints Day
7:00 p.m. Vigil Thursday, October 31 8:30 a.m. Friday, November 1 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 1
This feast honors all the saints, known and unknown. This feast was first celebrated on May 13, 610, when Pope Boniface IV proclaimed the day Feast of All Holy Martyrs in Rome. The intent was to honor all martyrs who were not included in local records. In 835, Pope Gregory IV changed the date and name to November 1 and Feast of All Saints. There are many saints who are not popularly known or who are not celebrated during the course of the liturgical year. This feast day provides an opportunity to remember and celebrate their lives.
REQUIEM ÆTERNAM
Our thoughts and prayers are extended to the friends
and family of Steve Meehan and Gerald Wonkka.
Through the
mercy of God,
may they rest
in peace,
Amen.

We must, if we don’t want to get on God’s bad side (and God knows we don’t) help the weak. In Christ, Fr. St. Martin
Being mindful of the poor, is being mindful of Jesus… the giver of all life. At some point, we - all of us, will have to “prepare a full account of [our] stewardship.”... and God in no uncertain terms, remains mindful of the poor, whom he intends to “lift up” - and God promises those who “trample upon the needy and destroy the
poor” will not be forgotten… for we cannot serve both God and the things that are not of God… At the Judgment of Nations, Jesus will come in his glory, with all the angels with him, and the first order of business will be to deliver on a promise, when he said; ... ‘Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.’ God is not just concerned with shekel-mongering, or those who cheat the poor out of their fair share of grain, but also all of the ways the poor (hungry, thirsty, estranged, ill and imprisoned unborn, elderly, etc…), have been neglected, which very much includes those who are being robbed of life itself. As legislators grapple with ever-new and complicated bills intending to end the life of persons at ever-increasing stages, we must pray for those who are actively working on the front-lines of the Pro-Life movement, that God may bring success to the work of our hands - and also pray for the conversion of hearts for those unable to see through the darkness of the culture of death. We can and should keep in active prayer, all those traumatized by the culture of death, and abortion in particular - that all may find the door to God's Mercy, through Jesus, the giver of all life.
Attention Eucharistic Ministers, Lectors, Ushers, Religious Education Teachers, Scouting Leaders and all Volunteers Each year a CORI check must be completed and submitted to Mary Best in the Rectory. You may pick up the forms in the back of the church, and return them in person to the Rectory. We need to see your photo government ID in person, so please take a few minutes to stop by the Rectory to complete this form. You may also see Shannon Murphy, Sue Ann Woolfrey or Susan Tocci after Mass to verify and complete this form during the weekend. Thanking you in advance.

Our collection this past weekend was: $4,509.00 Our 2nd collection for our utilities was: $1,239.00 Our 2nd collection this weekend is for the
Clergy Health & Retirement Trust. Our 2nd collection next weekend is for Hurricane Dorian relief. Cardinal Seán has asked for a 2nd collection to be taken up on or around September 28-29 in all parishes in the Archdiocese of Boston, in support of the relief efforts for the (arch)dioceses of the Bahamas and the United States that have been ravaged by the destruction of Hurricane Dorian. We have all seen the devastation caused by this severe storm. The emergency needs of the local Church in these areas will be great. As information about the destruction and needs becomes known the Boston Archdiocese will work in collaboration with Catholic Relief Services for the Bahamas and Catholic Charities USA for any US diocese that has emergency needs. We do not have envelopes for this collection, so please write your name and envelope number on a plain white envelope and drop it in the 2nd collection on this weekend. We can then make sure you receive credit for the donation on your year-end tax donation letter. Thank you for your support. To date we have received $19,231.00 towards our goal of $22,305.00 for the Catholic Appeal. We are at approximately 86% of our assessment – we are almost there. If we don’t raise the entire $22,305.00, we will be billed by the Archdiocese for the amount that we are short. Please remember to send in your donation today. Pick up an orange envelope, or contact me for more information. What a beautiful weekend we had for the bazaar! Thank you to everyone who helped out and for all who came and enjoyed the festivities. A very cursory look at the numbers look great! It looks as though we have cleared approximately $16,000.00 – up by more than $1,000.00 from last year. I expect to have more bills to pay in the upcoming weeks, but have estimated these costs based on previous years. I will keep you posted when we finally arrive at an official total. Thank you all again! And a HUGE thank you to Mary Genova for her hours and hours of work that she put into this undertaking!

Healthier Priests. Stronger Communities.
Funds from this special collection are managed by the Clergy Health and Retirement Trust – an independently managed trust with a majority lay board of trustees. The funds are used for the sole benefit of active and senior priests in good standing.
The strength and vibrancy of our communities depend largely on the welfare of our priests who tirelessly serve others from all walks of life.
Powerful examples of strength in community are visible across 144 cities and towns of the Archdiocese of Boston. The roots of these communities can be traced back to the work of our priests.
Pine Street Inn: A Boston priest was one of the original founders of Pine Street Inn, which provides shelter and emergency services for nearly 2,000 homeless men and women in the Boston area every day.
Cor Unum: Started by a Lawrence pastor, Cor Unum (“One Heart”) food pantry serves more than 250,000 meals annually to poverty-stricken families in Lawrence.
Addiction Support for Families: A Boston priest’s expertise in addiction and recovery has been instrumental for organizations helping families and individuals in the grips of addiction.
Rostro de Cristo: Efforts to help the poor on the margins of Ecuador’s largest city is hard work, except for those who have been inspired by a Boston priest who started Rostro de Cristo, an organization based in Boston that lives the Gospel and serves the poor.
It’s simple: healthier priests mean stronger communities. Please support clergytrust.org
