Sacred Heart Catholic Church The Ascension of the Lord ~ June 2, 2019
Reflection from the Pastor:
One of Blessed Columba Marmion’s favorite phrases describing
Jesus was in sinu Patris, which has been translated “in the heart’s embrace
of the Father”. This phrase, from the Prologue
of John’s Gospel, imagines the Son so close in
love to the Father that the Father’s very life
force occupies the entire attention of the Son,
as child resting his head on his father’s chest
only hears the heartbeat of his father, and
nothing more. In His divinity, the Son
enjoyed this close relationship with the Father
from all eternity, but through His Incarnation,
the Son embraced humanity and now presents all the members of His Body
to the Father, to be loved by Him as He loves His Son Jesus Christ. The
Ascension of Jesus is the ascension of humanity to the “heart’s embrace of the Father”. It is the pledge of our
own resurrection and ascension to the Father.

Padre ama a Su Hijo Jesucristo.
