OUR MISSION STATEMENT
SS. Peter & Paul Parish, a community of faith called by God to deepen
our relationship with Jesus Christ, serves the Lord by sharing our time,
talent and treasure. As disciples of Christ, we are called to bring Jesus
Christ to ourselves and others: our children, the sick, the poor, the fallen
away Catholics and those who need to hear God’s message of uncondi-
tional love and forgiveness. SS. Peter & Paul Parish is a beacon of light
rooted in Jesus Christ, passed on to his successor, our Holy Father the
Pope, and is guided by our local bishop to build the Kingdom of God on
Earth. It is our mission to shine the light of Jesus Christ in our world and
to spiritually enrich the individual members of the parish as well as the
larger community through word, worship, sacrament and service.

Word of Life

prevent them; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to
such as these.’” ~ Matthew 25:35-36
Something Looks Fishy Here
How’s your Math? 52 + 40 = ?
52 fish plus 40 fish on the last two Saturday mornings =
It Equals two great fishing trips ! The families who
joined Fr. Ed to go fishing July 18 and 26 had a great time
hauling in their bountiful catch. Thanks to parishioners
Tony & Trudy Ventello for sharing their pond, and to the
all the young “fry,” their parents and grandparents who
came out for fun in the sun, and went home with fish for
dinner.
Parish Day @ Mt. Pisgah - Second Chance
This Tuesday, August 4
8 am—8 pm Pool Pavilion
Fisher folk have another chance this Tuesday to
test the waters over at Mt. Pisgah; families and children
too, and to also enjoy the many other offerings of this
beautiful State Park: swimming, boating, hiking, a play-
ground, picnic food, friends and family, and more fun in
the (hopefully) sun.
The parish has reserved the Pool Pavilion for us,
All Day, and will offer hot dogs and refreshments for as
long as they last. Bring your own picnic food and drink
favorites, your lawn chair, your swimsuit, and plan to en-
joy a relaxing and fun day among family
and friends in a pleasant scenic setting.
Y’ALL COME !

Want to Learn More About your Faith ?
Would you like to learn more about your Catholic Faith?
Preparing lessons for the children is like a refresher
course for yourself!
Our parish CCD (Sunday religious education)
program is in need of a few additional teachers/helpers for
the 2015-2016 school year. We plan have two teachers
per class, to keep the commitment from being too much
for one person alone, and we can offer lots of help! CCD
classes are held Sunday mornings during the school year
from 9:15-10:45 am, between the Masses.
Please contact Marie Seibert 570-265-122, Kathy
Joyce, 570-561-5687, or complete a form (located in the
back of church) and put it in the collection basket or mail
it to the parish office, 106 Third St., Towanda.
Tuesday, August 4, is Parish Day at
Mt. Pisgah State Park Pool Pavilion
Catholic Relief Services
Thank you for your generous support of the Catholic Relief
Services Collection. Through your generosity, families
will be reunited, valuable skills will be taught to those
seeking a better life, and vital humanitarian needs will be
met. Please visit www.usccb.org (search “Catholic Relief
Services Collection”) to learn how your donations make a
difference and help Jesus in disguise.

175th Anniversary Logo
The final version of the 175th Anniversary Logo for our
2016-2017 parish celebration was approved by the Com-
mittee this past week. We are grateful to its designer, Joel
Christian, who has crafted a beautiful and meaningful
symbol to represent the faith, spirit and history of SS Peter
& Paul Parish. Watch the bulletin for further details.
From Mrs. Kasenga Twenty-seven years goes by very quickly when
you do something you love. I have been blessed with such
a vocation at St. Agnes School. I want to thank Father Ed
and the parish community for the gifts.
As a teacher and principal, it has meant a lot to
have had your support, prayers and commitment to the
students and school. We are blessed as a parish to have St.
Agnes School provide the students with Catholic values
and morals to face an ever changing world. I know that my
successor, Mr. Chad Shrawder, will continue the fine tradi-
tion of our school.
Thank you again for everything and may God con-
tinue to shower us with His blessings.
Sandra Kasenga
