MARCH 14 PRAYER SERVICE These past few weeks, since the tragedy at Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida, the nation has been fo-cused on school violence. The Archdiocese has framed an event so that the schools of the Archdiocese can be part of the collective national voice on March 14. The purpose of the event will be to join in the call for a greater nationwide focus on school safety and the dignity of every human.
The administration, staff and student council representatives of our sixth, seventh and eighth grades here at the Academy of St. Therese have all agreed that a prayerful reflection to honor the seventeen victims that lost their lives in Florida and for the protection of all children from senseless violence is appropriate. To this end, the middle school population of our Academy, our sixth, seventh and eighth grade students, will hold a special prayer service on Wednesday, March 14 in our church.
Parishioners are invited to attend this special prayer service. Please feel free to join our middle school popula-tion on Wednesday, March 14 at 10:00 A.M. in the church.
"Lent is a fi ng me for self-denial; we would do well to ask ourselves what we can give up in order to help and en-rich others by our own poverty. Let us not forget that real poverty hurts: no self-denial is real without this dimension
of penance. I distrust a charity that costs nothing and does not hurt."- Pope Francis
